Yes, we have straight out tail pipe each side.
I'm going to check if this factory mod their sample w220/w211 QUAD tips to straight single in/dual out type.

I actually crawled under my bumper the other day and now I am almost convinced that the black center piece is removable and can be exchanged with an AMG version...which will accomodate the quad exhausts.

Let me share with you guys about my experience with these tips. I installed these tips in my ex-W211 E. The tips are good looking from a distance but from a close distance it is not I want in my $70K vehicle. The box before the tips are kind of wired and it requires a lot of welding, extension and playing around before it might fit in to CLS. It might work but it needs a experience/excellent welder. I would highly recommend a AMG one instead, yes it costs more but if you decide to modify exhaust, a highly important element in our car, I will probably not take this short cut.
Thanks,

Nice input !
I'll keep an eye of local exhaust makers, there're so many
exhaust factories around.
Meanwhile I can't find the part no. of AMG quad tips,it seems AMG sell the whole mid + muffler set.
Actually I did look into the C55 exhaust kits which are
popular for W203 runners here, too bad the muffler of
C55 isn't as flat/extended as W219 but they're cheaper due to batch orders from tuners here in Taiwan.

Shine_1023,
Here is the AMG quad exhaust for our car: http://www3.mercedes-benz.com/omb/am...s/daempfer.htm I think this is a cat back exhaust system, not tips only. I emailed to Steve and waiting for his info. I'll update to you guys as soon as I have more info.
Thanks,
hlkc

Thanks for the blow up picture! I am certain that AMG has this exhaust for 350/500 CLS not to replace the bumper. The down side is smaller tips and different look then 55. But the upside is we don't need to replace the whole bumper and kind of overlap look like the last generation 996 exhaust tips.
Thanks,
hlkc

Please post pictures of the FXer Boxster bolt on tips. Also, as far as we can tell, AMG does not make bolt on tips but I hope I am wrong and if you find anything there please let us know.

Thanks,
hlkc

Received AMG tips Today, four of them.
The AMG oval tip is 100mm in width
(C32 tip is 89 mm, CLS500 oval tip is 115 mm)
So they just fit the Carlsson 240mm opening each side.
Layout as following
|<-15 mm ->OVAL#1<- 10 mm ->OVAL#2<-15mm->|
A Y pipe is needed to connect the tips and OEM muffler
Local dealer will take care of it.

Yes,the AMG letters are large and clear on the tip.
I'm also wondering how dare they put the logo ?
If AMG do not sell the tips only.
Ordering from Japan as I was told.

So, the cost of each w/o labor & paint
(1) CLS55 muffler + quad tips ......$850 around
(2) quad tips ...............................$310 around
Which way to go ?
