Quad exhaust installed

Well i installed the quad exhaust from steve last weekend on my cls with the sports package and We moded the bumper. The install was fairly easy and the bumper mod came with a sticker diagram that gets stuck on the rear of the car so you can cut both sides exactly even. the look and sound is 100% better.

i have pictures but dont know how to post them. if some1 can help me

Joe

we trimmed about an 2 inches off each side. Was fairly easy due to the fact that the exhaust came with a template that stuck to the original openings and guided you exactly where to cut.

Joey,

Did you have to use any adapters in this install?

My understanding is that the CLS55 "pipe" is a different size and would need an adapter to size-up or down. I'm thinking this might be a better solution than attempting to use the CLS55 exhaust.

no adaptor was needed. We cut the existing exhaust off and the new one slid right on and is held with a clamp.

Installation went fairly easy.

Adam is right; if these are in fact made for the CLS 500, why all the cutting and retrofitting? I keep maintaining that the black center bumper piece can be swapped out for a 55-style version.

these TIPS are the same as on a CLS55...the pipe in front of the muffler is suopsed to go on a CLS500 pipe

The original exhaust has to be cut as the original muffler is not bolted on...it is welded on.
The rear bumper has to be cut to make room for the quad tips.

and - yes - the center piece CAN be swapped for the one of the CLS55.

My dealer told me you can get the 55 version of the black piece for about $150. Worth it, for me, compared to cutting.

Steve,

Just a thought, maybe you can put together a package deal that includes all necessary components to make the 500 become the 55 dual exhaust look...

Thanks,
hlkc
