How many here have their windows tinted?
Was quoted $250 dealer price for legal dark(35%) all around including moleskins and the right method of doing the back window. Will try to get the dealer to pay one last time. Got some excuse that they will not include tinting anymore because customers would come back wanting free replacement of film?? Any suggestions? They know I won't walk away from the car if they don't give up this usual freebie.

Thinking about it. But since I just recieved the CLS last week I haven't really gotten around enjoying it enough to drop it at the dealership for a couple days to get the tint.
Next week I'll get a quote on it.

Thanks. What type of seal strips does the CLS have on the doors? Felt,Rubber? Did a search and it looks like some guys had some problems with their E series in reguards to application of moleskins (such as noise or too tight of a fit.)

i got HuperOptik tint, but it cost me $400. the dealer wanted $500 for it because they said everything else interferes with the Nav. i went to a local shop and they said the same thing.

vrracr, congratulations, I presume, on getting a good install on the back window with HuperOptik. My installer would not install Huper due to problems getting the film to shrink enough for the contour on the back window.
I had LLumar ATR metallic installed after looking carefully at the radio/nav interference issue. My dealer told me that I would have reception problems, however after riding in cars that had LLumar installed, with 35% tint, I saw no problems.
AT 35% I DO NOT get reduced reception on radio/nav. I also have no transmission/reception problems on the MB cell phone. Perhaps if you travel outside of the metro, there may be issues.

i think the problems with nav/radio are just myths. my dad's S-class has regular 20% 3M tint on it and he's never had any issues. i just got the HuperOptik because it's really thick and won't chip from my ring (happens on all my other cars).

Had my huperoptik put on for 450.00 down here in nyc. Supposedly its alot harder to work with as its so thick. Make sure your installer does a 1 piece in the rear, some people will actually tell you its not possible with the CLS however it is. Also, my installer had to remove my whole rear shelf I believe to get the tint over the rear brake light.

How difficult was it to get the rear deck off to gain access to the lower part of the window new the light and shade housing? My installer would not even try to install unless deck was removed and I was concerned about him doing that the first time on my car.

There is a 5.00 tool which they can use and not have to remove the rear shelf; bklynbenz chime in here with the tool name; lol. However my installer only took around 2 hours with the removal and installation, although they have a large operation. Someone here Im sure can give step by step on removing the rear deck.

Had mine tinted and was slightly annoyed to see that there is now are obvious streak marks, as he was unable to remove(or wouldn't) the brake light. It's apparent to me that the liquid solution he was using has leaked therein. Actually, you can only see it when the light comes from the back, but it's annoying. Was thinking of asking the service department(when I next have mine serviced) to take this out and clean the area, otherwise, not sure how to do it myself?

Finally got the car tinted. Ended up using Ceramic/Metallic Formula 1.
This figure I was quoted way back then over the phone was way off. $250 was for the "standard" dealer film package and did not include moleskins which would have been $25 per door extra.
Went with the ceramic 35% sides and 15% rear window.(NV legal) $390 excluding tax. Tint Material and labor was $310. Moleskins were $80 total. Imho they did an excellent job. Will take a few pics later this week.
