Single cup holder or double??

Ok, silly thread I know

But I was wondering where a "single cup holder" goes. Does the single cup holder get concealed inside the little storage compartment behind the gear lever when not being used or is it always visible like the double cup holder?

It all seems a bit nitpicky but we're trying to spec it up just right We want it to look as good as possible...definatly considering getting the wood lever and wood steering wheel which are both soo expensive for what they are!! Not to mention that in 2006, the price of the '350 has gone from $137,900 to $139,400 and I don't even know why.

Ok, I found out by myself the information regarding the cup holders. We'll definatly go for the single cup holder. Heres pics of the difference between the 2 if anyone cares:

There is a company in Melbourne and also MBENZNL who sell a matte finish steering / shifter combination which matches the dashboard wood finish.

Matte? We're going for either High Gloss (like beutifully pictured in this thread) or piano wood.

You can retro fit the single cup holder to any cls it simply clicks in where the container currently is. The part number is 66920118 and in Australia it is 107 dollars. Im picking mine up tomorrow. FYI it is a 160 dollar option in Australia so you might want to just buy it after the fact if you care about the 53 dollars.

FYI I have the piano black wood. It looks amazing but it is very hard to maintain it really shows up dust and small scratches. If you're up to the effort of keeping it looking good then its an spectacular option but the high gloss burl walnut will be a little more forgiving.

Oh ok thanks for the info. I think it might cost the same in the E-Class aswell...we might get it in that case.

Yeah it would be. I sat in a limited edition CLS 55 IWC on the weekend and that comes standard with piano wood and it was a bit messed up with finger prints and what have you. You wouldn't happen to have any new images of the piano wood since your opening thread??

btw: I think I've actually seen your car some time back over the Gladeville Bridge lol. Thought it looked familiar.

It is exactly the same part for the E and CLS.

Im about to hop on a flight back to Sydney from Melbourne so I'll take some pics for you Monday and post.

People seem to spot me a lot, much easier to tell its the same care with the plate that I have.

I believe the dual cup-holders are better than the single. My friend has an '04 E320 with the single cup-holder and it's so flimsy. I believe that it's kind of annoying to prop up the cup holder every time you want to use it. It is also very uncomfortable to drive with it "up".

Cup/can does not feel very secure either.

Just my 2 cents...

Have a good day!

HELP: Single vs. Double Cup Holder: Is this an option for US market?

Hello,

I am planning for a 2007 CLS and would like to ask a question please. For the US market (I am from California), is this (single vs. double cup holder) an option that I could choose at the time I place the order for my car?

Thanks in advance.
