I would say the CLS the airmatic suspension is a good thing to have. I don't know if the E has this option if it does get it. The CLS for a heavy car can handle pretty well with this setup.

E500 has airmatic. The chassis is very similar, but I would be interested too in any "side by side" comparisons of handling.

cls is supposed to have different shocks and swaybars.

The CLS has, according to MB, a 40% stiffer chassis than the E class. Also the CLS has a shorter steering ratio which makes it feel tighter.

Both handle very well for such a heavy car.
