updated the front grill

updated the front grill
I had the 55 front grill installed. Before the install I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but after I saw it on my car, I love it! I think it makes the car look much more aggressive.

well I did the same thing but not on purpose.. I bought a used 500 and one of the lower chrome grill peices was cracked and loose.. i tried finding the peices online and posted here but nothing.. when i checked ebay the only grill on there for a cls was the three bar amg for $250.. well the rest is history, i bought it because i didnt want to ride around with a peice missing on my grill... I didnt think i was going to like it better because it lacks the chrome but once it was on the car looked meaner and i love it..

Is the grille the only thing you changed on the front end of that car? Is that bumper and lower grille part of the amg package for the 500? or did you get if off of a cls55? do the cls 55 and cls500 amg package have the same body kit? damnn i have a crack in my cls500 grille. i want to replace it with the amg grille but the car is a lease so do you think i would have to change it back when i return it or can i just return it with the amg grille?

the original poster has an amg kit on his 500.. I dont have the amg kit on my 500.. I think the body package for the amg is the same no matter what model cls you have.. I would guess that the original poster has not changed anything else but the grill as i did..
if it's a lease i probably wouldnt put nothing on it that you wouldnt be prepared to take off to put it back to stock when the lease is over.

If it's a lease I wouldn't change the gill.....the dealership will probably make you change it back upon return.

I did the same thing to my CLS 500 I change the grill to the 3-rib AMG and with the sport package it makes the care look soooooo much better! I also added the AMG trunk spoiler. Regarding a Lease, you can change any parts as long as they are original Mercedes parts!

no u dont, stealerships dont care about that so much anymore, good move with the grill but 500 is a little pricey if u ask me... I like ur side bumper lights , they look kleen... U should paint ur grille blk, it looks nice on white,.. R u masry?

wow! those grille looks great. as to painting the mercedes grille, you have to sand it. You don't want to go all the way down to the plastic because this will create peeling if you don't remove all the chrome. You just want to ruff up the surface and get rid of the shine.

Opinions needed here, I have the 4-rib original grill n im thinking of painting it in black since my cls is black..........what do u think will look best?
1-paint the whole grill in black
2-paint the grill black (grey area) n leave the chrome as it is
3-paint the whole grill black n leave the Benz logo (star) chrome

Can you powder coat plastic? Maybe some epoxy type paint. The bugs will bounce off that!

Painted Blk Grill
I took the grill to a friends body shop and he sanded a primered then painted it. I removed the chrome plastic strips just by sliding them out, I had a few that were kind of tough to get out but i did it without breaking the plastic tabs. Good Luck
