My 2006 CLS (26,000 mi) have been back to dealer 3 times for the electrical problems. ABS and check engine light up from time to time. The steering lose presure. BAS/EPS/Brake/Display mulfunction/tire/battary message come on and flash like a christmas ligh. The head light shuts off for few second and sometimes not function at all.
The dealer fixed for 3rd time yesterday and test it again this morning. They called and said the problem is still there, I think they already change most of the major electrical parts. now they are calling help from MB engineers.
What to do??
Thanks.

Dealer called me and said it's done. Ask my permission for the mechanic to drive home for tonight and see if it's ok. so I said go ahead. Hope this time, they solve the problem. I really love the stlye of this car. it's like dating a pretty girl. Some how, you just got the patient for it.

I think I know wat happened,
When your trip odometer exceeds holding digit capacity of the screen ie. (10000.45 miles), The instrument cluster goes into panic... Let me know wat happened

After 2 weeks, the electrical problem came back.
I drove to San Diego last Friday, On the way return back to LA, all the possible message show up, 7 - 8 of them. The scary part was, the car also shut down so I had to pull over on I-5 N. Good thing the car still starts (I didn't use the keyless go). So I took to the dealer right away. And today, they said they replace the ESP control module, but it's still not fixed.
This is the 4th time in the shop for the same problem since April.

MB south bay will replace the ignition control module now.
While the car is in the shop, I looked at 650i and 997, but I really like CLS. Try to be low key and don't want to attract the wrong girl with 2-doors sports car.
I had 5-series, 993, S4 and 2 E-class before. My experience about MB is still good. Will see what happen. FYI, it's only 27,000 miles.

As a veteran of a buy back lemon law, just to let you know, you don't receive a full cash back of the price you paid. The CA law depreciates the owner milage at a rate of $0.10 per mile.
I drove my car for 3 years with the problem, then filed the lemon law papers with the dealer. Since I documented the problem at 1,300 miles, the 36,000 additional driven miles was on the manufacturer and I got a new car after 3 years for only $1,300.00. Not a bad deal.
this is all based on a sucessfull litigation--in my case was arbitration in which I represented myself. 1st there is non binding mediation in which neither party is satisfied with the outcome. Then you go to binding arbitration in which the car owner is the only one allowed to appeal. So if you lose, you can appeal and go to superior court. If you win in arbitration go to the nearest MB dealer with your check.
