Why do people remove rear model # and emblems ?

Why do people remove the "CLS 500, or CLS 550 " from the rear of these cars ? If I see a CLS without the badging in the rear, I assume its a 500 or 550, so why even bother to try to make people wonder what it is ?

And why stick a "V8 kompressor" logo on your fenders when you dont have a supercharged engine?

I know the people that actually do it will read this and get mad at me, but please don't. I just want to understand this, and thats all.

For some (me included, on my CLK) it just looks cleaner in the rear not to have the badges. If you know what your car is why does it matter what others think it is? Know what I mean? But to add a V8 Kompressor badge is just not right by all means...lol...

i agree, i do feel some cars look much more "clean" without the badges. Adding V8 komp or AMG/Brabus etc badge is just tacky. I am thinking about debaging my CLS, just bc I never like anything on my vehicles, even on my gixxer 1000

Thanks guys, I see your point of view.

I sport the Lorinser logo because I have the full kit, and the AMG logo is cool if you have the AMG body kit.

I guess as long as you do it for the nice clean look, then thats cool, but if its being done because of shame, then its not.

Even though I love the CLS 55 and 63, there is nothing wrong with buying and owning the 500's. The average person cannot walk into a dealership and buy these cars. I give respect to anyone these days that work hard to be in the position to buy these fantastic vehicles, no matter what model you get.

and i can always spot a fake 600 or AMG benz on the road. I can't believe that people actually switch the 500 to 600,lol.

the average person won't know, but a Benz Enthusiast will.

just comes down to opinion

when i bought my cl500, it has an added AMG on the rear and a added V8 Kompresor on the sides, not only was it too much decal's, but a hardcore false advertisment

other benz drivers always ask me how fast is my 55, i hate tellin them its just a 500 lol

its ok thou, she gets Debadged today

I think must people debadge for looks(cleaner).I'm planning on debadging my car most likely this weekend. To be totally honest,my car has the letters/numbers C230 KOMPRESSOR across the trunk, this makes it a pain in the *** to wax around.

Great comments guys, and it does look clean without the #'s.

but I have a question.

Would you take the Decals off if you had a CLS55 or CLS63 ?

i only took my cl500 decals off because i wanted nothing on from the get go, but if i had a 55/63..... i would have mixed feelings. yes i would take it off just in case i came across a lambo owner with a 63 and wanted to walk him and make him feel like he got done by a normal cls, or NO i wouldnt because, well, its a 63 lol

i say forget it, keep it clean and keep it off, u know what it is cuz u bought it, i tell girls my top goes down, it dosent, but they dont know that lol

All the car needs is the three pointed star. I debaged my CLS550 because it looks better. I would do the same if it were a CLS55 or 63, and who want's
those cheap plastic glued on badges on such an elegant car anyway!

I debadged my CLS today, and I have to say, it looks much better. Very clean. Will prob do the same to my G500 and the "V8" whats on the side of the fender.

Cool Somehow...

Somehow I like the badging. I am adding the AMG to my car being that is does have the AMG kit. I guess I'm different. My CLS is absolutely awesome, just delivered today. I don't regret getting a CLS500 over a 550 at all now.

I have drove the CLS550, CLS55, and the after my buddy added the Kleeman kit to his 55, I drove it again. The power was breathtaking, I must admit but the 500 is enough.

To answer your question though, khelawanb, no I would not take the decals off of either car, no matter what model I got. On the level of the CLS, any model does the job, just preference at that point..and what you want to spend.

what kind of kleeman kit did he add to his 55? I know the 55 already has a supercharger mounted on top of the engine. do you mean a performance chip ?

Smile The Full thing...

He had the full Kleeman done. Kompressor, headers, chip, pulley's, K&N filters. He spent quite a bit, upwards of 15K+.

Check the site out, explains what they do on stages. He got the Stage 4 done.

Kleeman Link

The power on that thing is awesome, almost scary. LOL.

The Germans do it for exactly this reason. My A6 4.2 is debadged and I love it. My E500 is a US model and is not - I wish it was.

When a wagon blows by you at 240+ KPH and makes your car bump due to the shock wave, the badging is not really needed....
