Dealership doesn't agree...

I've been having the break squeal issue with my CLS500 since something like9,000 miles. This post couldn't be more timely as my car is at the dealer right now. I brought this to the attention to my SA and they spoke with their warranty administrator and told me they won't do anything because I'm over 12,000 miles. I protested and said that the DTB should also should cover me because I'm still under the 48K/5YR warranty. In short, they told me it doesn't. They referenced a master warranty book of rules or something of that sort. If this is really the case, is there a number I can call at MBUSA?

They did, however, offer to change the pads/rotors and put in some dampeners for over $700.

Do you have the actual PDF or Service Bulletin for this? I only have 2500 miles on my car and my brakes are already squeaking!!

TIA

Brake squeal inclusive of replacing pads and rotors if need be are covered at no cost by MBUSA for the first 12 months/12000 miles whichever comes first without this DTB. If they suggest brake paste remedy request they specifically adhere to the procedure stipulated in DTB P-B-42.10/79. If you still want a copy, PM your email address.

same squeal

What if I reported this issue before the 12k mile warrenty limit? My car currently has 17k miles on it and is in the shop today.

To date, unless unaware of a revision, this DTB makes no mention of time or mileage limitations therefore it should apply. Furthermore, in your particular situation before 12 months/12,000 they should have changed out the pads and/or rotors to resolve the squeal. If they did not, and brake squeal documentation exists on a previous invoice with less than 12,000 miles you are entitled to have this repair revisited. If the service manager refuses, contact the CAC @ 800-367-6372 and explain in detail.

Awesome. I only have 7500 miles on my car and thought it was far too soon for a brake replacement.
