Headlamp bulb and air filter help

I have an 06 cls500. I just had a run in with a tree on the road. Pine needles everywhere, inside and outside the car. Anyhow, I'm concerned there's a bunch of needles in the air filter. How do you take the cover off to check the filters? Are they just held in by clips and do I need to take the whole cover off covering the engine also?

Also, the driver's side low beam (halogen) went out. I'm having trouble accessing the cover since the coolant tank is in the way. What would I need to do to change that bulb? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Not too sure about the air filter, but I have had the complete right headlight unit replace twice!!! Let me ask you this, do you have the Xenon headlights??? If so, if your cluster says low beam out or unavailable, its more than a bulb, and more complex then a regular headlight. I had my CLS in the shop for a week and had a Ford Taurus in replacement, hahaha!!!! It ended up being a modulator that was faulty and was replaced under warrenty, it got so bad it began to flicker violently behind a cop! But yea, with xenon's its more advance than a trip to Kragens for a bulb, its a trip to the good ole benz dealership for you and your baby!!!!

to take off the cover you need to remove the front part of the cover this is in 2 parts. the front part just pulls up. the back part you need to remove the back clip that holds the air box down on to then you will be able to pull the whole box off. you will nex a 25pt. torks head as soon as you flip over the air box you will see 4 bolts on each side just remove them pull out the needles, and replace.
