Hi all...I would appreciate the help on a couple of things I have gotten stuck on...I have a 2007 CLS 550...

#1: On my navigation system it won't let me type in anything for the POI...I have to select it on a list but it won't let me "actually type it in"...is this how our navis are but is it possible??? I looked through the manual and it says there is a way but I just can't figure it out!

#2: On my CD player...not the disk changer...I burned a DVD with MP3s but it won't read it! It says "error reading cd"...am I doing something wrong, or why won't it work?

#3: Kind of dumb question...but since i've had my car for 7 months now I haven't purchased the blue tooth bundle to make my phone bluetooth in my car...how does it exactly work? Is it worth it and very convenient? Can you actually talk to it on the screen and write text on it?? I am going to buy it but just was looking for a little detail about it.

#1 - Select restuarants, Select 'ALL', then it'll let you type the name
#2 - That's not a DVD player
#3 - It is worth it. Very good voice quality IMO but doesn't work with all phones. If you can try your phone with it first it might save you $400. You cannot text, you can't answer call-waiting either.

Trez...thanks so much for your reply and help...but i'm still stuck on a couple things so I am going to reply back...

#1: I do go to "select restaurants", and then "select All"...it doesn't give me an option to type it....where do I type it??? Also...does it work for only restaurants or does it work for other POI categories as well?

#2: I know it is not a DVD player..but I thought our CD player works with DVD's and MP3's....that's what I heard and it says on the manual it works with MP3's...am I correct about this or do the MP3's have to be on a CD-R?

#3: How can I try my phone with it first?? Is there a compatibility list? I have a Verizon LG VX8700 & Verizon Audiovox PPC-6600 PDA...

#2 yes on a 2007, burn them on a cd-r you should be able to get 700 mb's worth of your mp3's on a single cd-r.

On 2006 models a Burned Mp3 DVD-R (4.7GB) and a DL (8.5gb) works.

#1 - It only works with certain things. not sure.
#2 - DVD is unrelated to mp3. You can play MP3 CDs but not DVDs
#3 - I'd go to the parts department, ask them to try the part (or buy it, try it, and return it)

#1: I did that...I want to "All Restaurants" and it gave me no option to type anything in...there was no area to....how the hell do I do it or is it just not possible??? This is really bothering me!

#2: I burned it on a CDR and it worked! Only thing is I had a folder I burned and for some reason it did not show up...but maybe I was just doing it wrong but i'm good to go in that regards

#3: I will check out the bluetooth...I just wish I could write messages...but having the cradle would not make it wireless as I can just talk...I need to have headset right?

Dude, where do you live? It's possible there just isn't enough places near you for character entry.

This is true. mbusa is not fully up to date with there poi. also you might want to swing by the dealer and have them look at it.

You should see this screen enabling individual character entry. Do you not have a COMAND manual?

I do have a command manual but that screen never comes up and I don't know how to get there!

Don't feel bad, I couldn't figure it out at first either. You need to hit the Nav button, then select "Enter destination", enter a city, then hit the POI softkey in the lower left. Now select "Restaurants", "All restaurants", and you should get the entry screen. Sounds more complicated than it is.

Bottom line, just hitting Nav then POI won't get you there.

Wish MB had a nav like Lexus. On my wife's IS you can even enter just a phone number and it'll find the business and enter it in the nav. And, while it has categories, you don't need them, you can just type a business name and it looks it up. Not to mention the touch screen. The only thing that sucks about it is it locks-out entry while in motion.

There is a 1 minute hack to fix this on the lexus.

I live in OC too, come to the next meet and we'll show you. It's possible for some reason you got stuck with and old version on the Nav software.


BTW, the phone number thing ... The ML nav seems to let you do that. Ridiculous.

On my way home I checked and konigstiger's directions work:

POI -> select city -> restaurants -> all (or sub-category) -> character entry

I think the key is you need to enter a city and can't just use "current location".

At least that's how mine is working with the 2006.2 DVD version.
