CLS500 AMG logo from the dealer/factory
I've seen some examples of CLS500's with the AMG sport package with the "AMG" emblem on the trunk...was that distinction available from the factory or perhaps even dealer installed? Or are all of them done by the owner aftermarket?

Non-AMG vehicles, even when equipped with the sport package, will never come from the factory with an AMG badge. Its always either done by the dealer or the owner.

Real AMG includes Interior Brakes and Motor.....all other AMG s are just the Sport Apperance package......but the S550 do come with an AMG badge on jus sport package...

2007 CLS550
I purchased an '07 CPO CLS 550 in early December '09. It has the AMG Sport Package and came with the "AMG" badging. I asked the dealer why, knowing it wasn't a "real" AMG; their reply was that depending on where it was produced, some AMG Sport Package equipped vehicles came with the badge. I personally am not too happy about it being there... feel like an AMG poser. I want to remove it, but am wary that I will damage the paint/clear coat, or because it is has been there for some time will leave some sort of "shadow" where the badge was. I'd be interested in others' thoughts or recommendations. Thanks!

it wont leave anything..............i have mine De Badged.......no prob no glue residue....just do it in a warm place and at the carwash.....

ONLY full AMG vehicles come from the factory with an AMG badge.
It's been confirmed from Mercedes-Benz's AMG forum (a forum for only AMG owners) that regular Mercedes-Benz models do not and will not come with an AMG badge.
And for the record, my S550, with the AMG sport package, does not have a badge.

The 2009 CLK350 and CLK550 "AMG Edition" models offered in Canada were equipped from the factory with an AMG badge on the trunk. Sadly, the rule no longer holds true.

thats what the rule is but if you still uncertain if you have an amg or not put your try to get membership at amg private lounge http://www.mercedes-amg.com/privatel...ogin/index.php if they grant you access with your vin hey you might have one
