Are these numbers correct for the 2012 CLS550?

As reported in the article by MT:

0-to-60: 4.3 seconds
quarter-mile: 12.8 seconds at 110.6 mph

Sounds like AMG territory for a non-AMG car.

Well this says nothing. Used to be they'd give you the technologies in a car and improvement facts, but now I guess they think we're dunderheads.

Exactly.
I was considering the CLS63 for the next car, but the numbers on this non AMG car are rather impressive...

With these numbers for the non-AMG cars, can we expect sub 4 seconds for 0-60 mph and sub 12 sec for 1/4 mile on the AMG cars? I say yes. What would be your guess for AMG with and without the PP?

Impressive, but when you see the number between the CLS 500, 550, 55, and 63 for 0-60 and 1/4 runs...is the difference that much? I would expect some larger gains in performance or no?

For example the:

500: 0-60 mph: 5.6 sec 1/4 mile: 14.0 sec.
550: 0-60 mph 4.6 sec 1/4 mile: 13.1 sec.
55: 0-60 mph: 4.3 sec 1/4 mile: 12.7 sec.
63: 0-60 mph: 4.3 sec 1/4 mile: 12.8 sec.

This makes me more excited:
2012 CLS 63: 0-60 mph: 3.8 sec 1/4: 12.0

Is there a source for these numbers? Are these numbers for a car with the PP? If so, what are the numbers for a car without the PP?

The "base" CLS63 has 518hp. With the Performance Pack, it adds an additional 18psi boost and bumps it up to 550hp. I believe the PP is an 8k option.
I haven't seen a formal review with times yet.
With the PP, it is probably a sub 4 second car.
I looked at the w212 E63. LSD is not included unless you order the PP, which is sort of retarded for >500hp car.
Does anyone know if the new CLS63 comes standard with LSD, or do you have to order the PP to get it?
I'm just not sure if I want to pay the extra 25k for the AMG...

According to the link above, the 2012 CLS63 is a sub 4.0 sec 0-60 mph car with (3.8 sec) and without (3.9 sec) the PP. So is it worth the extra $8k to shave off an additional 0.1 sec? Some may even be content with the CLS550 (4.3 sec) for $25k less than the AMG cars.

That's my thought as well, for the money and performance differences...like you said is it worth it?

There is of course more to the AMG version than just 0-60 and other reasons to get it but on that factor alone the regular CLS should be more than fast enough. The lateral acceleration result for the CLS in MT was also amazing.

No doubt.
From the fixed front springs, quicker MCT tranny, exhaust note...I'm sure the AMG is a blast to drive...

The exhaust note of the regular CLS is pretty awesome too but I am sure the AMG will notch it up a few levels.

The previous CLS550 did 4.7s 0-60 and 13.3s in the 1/4m according to C/D so it's no surprise to me that the new CLS550 with 20 more hp and 50 more ft-lb achieved those awesome figures of 4.3 & 12.8

I just got my 2012 CLS 550 on Friday. I have not done any accelerations test( Break in period), but I can say that its alot faster than my previous CLS. I am not surprised by the numbers Motor Trend got. The car feels like AMG acceleration.
