2012 CLS Dealer Incentives
Although this is a very new model, I was wondering whether anyone was aware of any particular incentives that the dealer has to sell this car? Since it is new can I expect to pay MSRP or (with a bad economy) could I get it for invoice?
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I contacted 5 different dealers and none of them were willing to discount, however I was able to get $1,800 off sticker when I went in to purchase. Perhaps a better deal can be had but I'm enjoying my car.

Thanks for the reply. After I posted the original request, I checked truecar.com and that website stated that the dealers do not have any incentives for the 2012 CLS. So, congrats on a good negotiating job!!

Has anyone been able to get a lower price on a lease?
$999 is what they quoted me on the phone. When i went in, they told me $1500. I was not too happy about that and walked away for them attempting that bull.

I contacted several dealers in So Cal via email and asked very specific questions about incentives, price and options. None of them gave me any answers other than to come by to see the CLS.
I visited MB Encino a couple of days ago. They advertised a $999/mo lease for the 2012 CLS, but that seemed to apply to a particular vehicle with few options. Because the vehicles are in limited supply, this dealer (and perhaps most) is stating a mark up over MSRP of $8k to $15k depending on the options and the vehicle. The $85k MSRP of the Launch Edition (with very limited supply) was marked up to $100k. I don't know what any of this translates to a monthly lease payment, but I have a hard time rationalizing paying over MSRP.
Good luck.

Why not?
It is disappointng that Mercedes unlike Lexus allows their dealers to mark up over MSRP. It never pays to be the beta tester on a new model.
Why not? We are in a capitalism society.. So if someone want the car more and willing to pay more to be a beta tester, let them be. Dealer is not the problem, the buyer who want to pay through his nose to be the geniue pig is the problem..

The dealers probably believe that the early adopters would pay up. At the very least, MB is testing the market and will establish market driven incentives based on the sales data from June.
I am hoping to get this car for under MSRP toward the end of December. Otherwise, I will keep my current car for another year or so.

If you pre-ordered this vehicle months ago, would MB have required you to pay over MSRP?

I went to MB Encino a few months ago and I was told that they don't mark up prices. I ordered my C class from them (custom order) ...the 2012 redesign...they better not mark up the price

Give it about a year or less, and the incentives will come. M-B has been masterful at oversupplying, causing them to discount E and S Classes, etc., substantially.
Basically, the longer you wait, the more accessible the car and deals will be.... That's the game.

Ya I dont know if that really holds. MB is most susceptible to over production in the first model year of a new redesign not the subsequent years. They'll have an opportunity to adjust production and have better sense of demand the longer the car is in the market. 2010 e63's were discounted heavily as a first model year. Haven't seen the same (or the same inventory levels) this year.

This of course if you want to buy immediately. Different story - if you order and wait. Then you will not pay over sticker.
Lexus and any other dealer can sell at any price they want - as long as they have customers who are willing to pay....

Can anyone honestly be mad at a dealer to sell a car for the most they can... as of now maybe each dealer have 2-3 cls on the lot that werent pre ordered.. So if someoned is willing to pay 8-10k over msrp what benifit is it for them to discount it to someone...
If you come in looking for a deal your probably not a repeat customer for them so how can you get mad at that.... if you were selling your house for 1 million and some one says ill give you 1.5 million for it because they really want it is that wrong to.

If you want to go to more serious dealership in the neighborhood, go to MB of Encino, Calabasas or Beverly Hills.

Yes, Keyes European are known to tell you anything on the phone - just to bring you in. Once you get in things change. One of the last old-school MB dealerships that I've known. Does not work anymore. Personally, I would never go to Keyes European in the 1st place. I'd rather go to circus...

I don't go to Keys either. Their sales stuff rubs me the wrong way each and every time. They never seem to fail at that. I'm sure they can sell to the average buyer but not to people who know a little more about the brand and it's cars.
Back on topic - No dealer incentives yet, but lease rates are expected to be out in about 4-5 months. Best thing to do is wait it out, but if you can't then you can get 2-3 off MSRP depending upon dealers and the version of the 12, CLS.
If you can't hold it in your pants for a few months, shoot me a pm and I'll refer you to someone that will get you the best deal for the time being. Best thing to do is wait!
