Frenchy-

these things get HOT after a while... espically if you leave the car parked with the blinkers for a while. Did you do any bench tests on these for extended periods of time? I'm almost afraid to put my trunk panels back on.

I'm thinking of putting some heat sinks on them (a la CPU) for safety.

Hello,

Yes i did some Tests, leaving City lights and Blinkers on for 2 hours, and they get hot yes, but no problems.

Just take care to install them on the Metalic Bracket Above the SAM, just towards the Trunk Lid Spring on Left Side.

And on the Right side, Behind the Big Bottle, just under it.

But for Sure, if you have enough place behind the boxes, you can add a Heat Sink.

@G8nightman : I answered your PM.

Regards,
Frenchy.

I think I'll do that. After having hazard lights on for 30 mins, they were too hot to touch! I'll get it done today and update with pics later

Can someone please post pics of where EXACTLY you placed the modules? I installed mine about 3 weeks ago and after reading some of the posts above I'm terrified since i just left the modules sitting behind the trunk panels wherever I could find a spot for them to fit at the time.

Any pics of the locations to mount the modules would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hot Modules

Good to hear that we are all dealing with hot modules and that it was not just my set. I'm putting faith forward that this should not be a hazard as I have just completed the install and I am very happy with the conversion. As for using the plastic zip ties that came with the modules to secure them to the car, I was not comfortable with that due to the excessive heat they can put off.

So I found 11 inch stainless steel zip ties/cable ties at the local hardware store for $5 (USA). They are made by Gardner Bender and the model number is 45-312ss. I feel much more comfortable mounting such hot modules with metal straps rather than plastic.

As for where I mounted the modules?

On the left side, I mounted it to the aluminum box that appears to hold the DVD based navigation equipment. I am assuming this is where a 6 disc changer could also be located. I mounted it facing the bumper, so that it is in between the DVD console and the tail lamp itself. It is zip tied to the metal frame and thus the frame should act as a heat sink.

On the right side, I initially drilled 2 holes in the black metal support bracket that the pressure tank mounts to. I drilled the holes to allow access for my metal straps to go through and then around the module. I then mounted the module to the outside of that bracket, so that I could see the module clearly from inside the trunk.

The mistake?

The fabric trunk side panel now would NOT fit as the module was sticking out and in the way. So I had to unstrap everything and flip the module onto the other side of the metal support bracket, just below the 2 upper bolts that hold the compression tank. Now I have no issue with fitment of the fabric side panel of the trunk and the project is complete.

Another advantage to using the stainless steel straps is that you can unscrew a couple of the screws in the module (very slightly) and then slide the strap under the screw head, then tighten the screw back down. This gives you a bit tighter of a fitment and peace of mind that the module will not slip down over time.

Hello,

You've got PM about the fog light

Thank you for your post, feel free if you have pics of your installation,
It will be a good help for others.

The stainless ties are a good solution as well, but no worries about the Colson, they do the job as well.

Regards,
Frenchy.

Hello,

I think they won't be able, since they don't have the "developer Mode" on their Stardiagnosis.

Show you the video of the first Plug & Play module,
that allows you to swap your old Tail lights for the
LED Tail lights from the 2009+ facelift model.

Every lights work perfectly without generating any error on
Your Instrument Cluster.

To upgrade your tail lights, you'll have to remove the plastic traverse in the trunk to Access all bolts, and bend a little bit side carpets.
Then, unscrew the 5 bolts of the Tail light, swap it with the new one, fix it with the 5 bolts, plug the module on your OEM connector (harness of the car), without cutting anything, and plug the other connector (from the module) to your new Tail light. Then you'll just have to attach the module on the traverse bar above the rear SAM, and that's it !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzZyJ...e_gdata_player

As you will see on the video, the sample is not completely finished, need to drill a hole In the box to run wires Safely out of it.
Everything will be ok on the finished product.

Regards,
Frenchy.
