Smoked Tail Lights

Does anyone know the best way to go about tinting or smoking the rear tail lights. Can these be bought already smoked or does anyone have any for sale??

You have two options. Tint or paint. I painted and cleared mine to maintain the high gloss finish. When the rain stops, I can post pics.

Did you paint them yourself? I was thinking of buying a spare set and using those in case I mess them up.

I did. Remove the tail lights. Clean them and wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper. (I had problems with adhesion when I tried using 800 or 1000 grit paper) Add some black to the clear and coat to the color you like. (each coat makes them progressively darker) 3 more coats of clear with no black added. Wet sand and polish for the final step. I only smoked the red portion of the light and left the blinker/backup light clear. The best part about it is that you don't really notice until you are next to another benz with stock tails. I prefer subtle mods. I have done a couple of sets of BMW tails super dark because that's what the guys wanted. As for messing them up, you can always sand off the paint and wet sand/polish them back to stock. I had an issue with reducer pop the first time I painted mine and had to go thru this process.
