Cls 320cdi ride height

Firstly hello all, I have been having issues with my rear ride height on my car, I have been on other forum sites asking about this issue but sadly not found the solution, the issue I have is when I bought the car I noticed the rear was sitting high leaving a large gap between the tyre and wheel arch, after looking at other cars similar to mine ( non airmatic suppenion ) mine is sitting high at the rear. I have checked with my local mb dealer to see if I have the correct springs fitted and they say yes, they are colour code single blue and green, also the shock absorbers have been replaced, trouble is nobody can tell me what measurement I should have between top of tyre and bottom of wheel arch, even the mb dealer doesn't know, please take a look at the photos and see what you all think.

I have no idea what can be wrong with it but this gap should be twice smaller than it is now.
Both sides have the same gap or just the driver side ?

Is there any chance that car was in an accident ? If so my guess would be that whoever did the repairs did something wrong.

It's noticeably high. I don't know what your issue is but I'd lower it w/ links or coilovers

Can not use links because it has standard suspension not airmatic, as for lowering springs I don't want a harsh ride if you know what I mean, would just like to know why it's sitting soo high
