Brrrr it's cold

Well, this morning in Georgia, I had the pleasure of driving to the train station in 5 degree F weather. I've had my 2006 CLS500 for about 2 weeks now, so I was a little alarmed when I got a big red alert upon starting my car that said "VISIT WORKSHOP". Everything seemed to work okay. Is it really bad to drive in this weather, or is this a common thing?

well what was the visit workshop for?

i drove my car in 2 degrees this am, and there were no errors. obviously things like power steering, airmatic etc, will not be as responsive when the car is that cold.

It is your AUX battery. I get it all the time in the winter time. Battery is fine. Start up today was 1 degree! lol

Yes it did have a picture of a battery. Thanks for the response, that's good to hear. You think it's because I need a new aux battery, or does the cold just do that?

Rental car is a CLA 250. It has some sorta strange shifting when it was that cold. Even in ECO mode it would rev to >3000rpm sometimes before shifting. Usually it won't go above 1500rpm.
While I miss my CLS, the CLA is pretty nice. The interior feels like a Mercedes and road noise is so much quieter than other rentals I've had here. That little 4-banger can squeal the tires when needed. The AMG CLA would be truly scary.

Glad it is warming up, and just get a new battery, yours is living on borrowed time.
