Question SBC Warranty issues.

So I have a 2006 CLS500 and recently had the "Brake-service brake visit workshop" alert appear. It cleared itself, but came back again and then cleared itself again.
No ESP/ABS alert so its not the stop lamp switch.
No "Brake Wear" alert so its not the sensors.
Fluid is fine. No leaks. All 3 brake lights work.

I have not had codes read by STAR yet, but have been reading about a problem and a 10 year extended warranty on the SBC pump.
I called my local dealership and........ wait for it........... My warranty expired last month and theres nothing they can do to help me.

Now for the question: "Can someone help me file a claim with MBUSA?/ HAS anyone had success filing a claim with MBUSA?/ How much should I expect to pay to have this changed out of pocket?

Thanks guys.
John

it could be anything from stop lamp switch to programming to pressure reservoir or the hydraulic unit itself. need the code(s). they wont help because they already extended the warranty from 4yr 50k to 10yr unlimited miles so thats basically them helping out already.

I have not pulled the codes and its just the white warning, NOT the red failure message. I ordered a stop lamp switch just in case, but my rear lights work and theres no ESP malfunction displayed. It being Christmas and all I have a 500 mile round trip planned for tomorrow and was just wondering if I should be worried. Also, I dont think its the programming or the counter being at its max either because I had the alert come and go twice. It doesnt stay. It seems as if the programming or counter had hit a wall the alert would remain.

I would be worried. My best guess would be the pressure reservoir.

When I pump the brakes a few times in a row the SBC pump motor turns on but doesn't sound the healthiest.
Can someone confirm if their pump makes noise at all when someone is pumping their brakes in the cabin. (Car running/ in park).

Yes the pump runs on unlocking, opening a door or pressing the brake pedal the white message is often code 2049 that means the time is coming up for replacement. If there is no fault code it could be the bake lamp switch, as this kills off the speed signal within the ESP ECU.

All I can say on using the car I know many that have used the cars for some time while saving some pennies towards the expensive replacement, that is of coarse if code 2049 is present.

There is another angle to this, there is now a means of clearing this code and extending the life of the pump, and many secondhand car dealers now do this to all SBC equipped cars to avoid replacement while under their guarantee.

I would still use the car in view of all this, but I cannot tell anyone else what to do.

Yes they do make a noise sounds much noisier in a garage. My 2002 SL has always been noisy in it 89k miles on original pump and my 2009 SL has always been quiet.

Some models have an updated intake hose on the SBC unit with built in dampers and these vehicles are much quieter when the pump is on.

Dealer called.
Said that my software needed an update and it faulted my stop lamp switch.
I already have the stop lamp switch in the mail to my house and I will change that myself.
I am having the dealer flush the brake fluid and do the software upgrade.
Does anyone trust this? If it indeed is "counting applications" and had the warranty extended to 10 years; what are the odds I will be fighting the same issue next year?

Fuel tank/ neck/ sender unit- replaced under recall
SBC reprogrammed
Valve cover gaskets replaced
Brake flush
4 wheel alignment
Oil change
Stop lamp replaced (decided to have them do it for documentation purposes)

$1700. I guess it couldve been a WHOLE lot worse.

Any one have any luck using the SBC reset module being sold from overseas? Ive read of lots of people using them on the W211, but not much feedback on C219.
