Power seat issues, moves forward 1/2 way only
The seat will move in every direction. Up, down, forward, back. So the motor is good. It just acts like it hits the end of track and stops ad the halfway point.
I checked the tracks to make sure they where clear, tired to normalize the switch (holding the switch at max adjustments for 3 secs), unplugged the motor, etc.
I currently have the seat half way out. Rotated back on the 2 rear frame bolts. Looking for loose, broken wires don't see anything. Tried the motor with the weight of the seat off the track but stops in the same place.
Scanned it with icarsoft recently for an ignition code and I believe it should the seat being "normalized".
Any other ideas out there? I'm not very familiar with the MB line but I'd guess a hall sensor of some sort? How would I test it?
I was going to pull the motor but I have no idea how the shaft connects inside the seat rails. Can anyone explain or show how it's all connected?
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Update
I went and pulled the motor and drive spring.? Figured I couldn't break it anymore. I see how it works now. The drive shaft reminds me of a Dremel flex shaft connection.
Anyway, I ran the both carriages inside the track back and forth. Everything moved freely. So I'm assuming it has to be a senor or control module. Neither I know how to test.

Last night I manually adjusted the seat 3" forward. Stuck the short shaft in an electric drill to move it. The seat will move forward to where I set but now moves 3" less towards the rear.
Someone has definitely been under the seat before. Ended up snapping 2 of the 4 frame to seat rail bolts from the half gallon of locktite they put on.
I did manual move the seat forward but it's length of travel is still the same distance. It won't go back fully but far enough for me to drive.
Like you suggested, I'll have to go to the dealership and see if they can adjust the travel limits in the BCM.
@konigstiger Do you happen to have the part numbers for the 4 bolts that connect the seat to the rail? They have a bushing kind of built into them so a typical straight shaft bolt won't work.
