CLS 53 AMG

thought I would start a thread on the upcoming AMG CLS 53.

there isn't a thread in the AMG section, and the moderator suggested, I start one here.

I have one that just finished production a week ago, and it's slated to hit the Baltimore port later this month, but no release date yet.

Does anyone have any info as to when they are planning to release? I'm hoping it will be within a month of last week's release of the CLS450.

In other news - Moter Trend panned both the CLS and the AMG 53 - WOMP WOMP.

Anybody else have one on order?

I’m really having a tough time deciding if I need the 53 over the 450. However, I feel like I’m going to wish I had it once it gets here. It will interesting to see how long it actually takes to arrive.

CLS 550
I've ordered a CLS 53 as well. It's back-ordered because MB is does not have a HUD available at this time. Also, I've noticed the MB website is still showing the 2018 version of the CLS. Any idea when it will show prices and options for the 2019 CLS?

The website is what is really an issue. I know we have the ordering guide but the most fun thing about ordering a car is playing with the different configurations online. I emailed customer support about it last week and they responded that they are working on it. Hopefully soon it is corrected.

The HUD thing is a chafe - I went ahead and ordered mine without the HUD given that my existing lease is up December 6, and I didn't want to wait for it indefinitely. Hoping I won't regret it.

My dealer seems to think the AMG's will release a month after the 450's. I sure hope that's the case. I've heard stories of new models sitting at the ports for months.

Good news is that CARB certified the CLS 53 at the same time it certified the 450's, so that won't be holding it up.

I drove the CLS 53 a few weeks ago. It’s such a beautiful car. Comfortable. Feature laden. Sexy. It’s a must have.
