2019 CLS53 vs 2019 Maserati Ghibli S Q4 GranLusso

Friends...Looking to replace my aging E class with something much more sporty. Love driving both the 2019 CLS53 vs 2019 Maserati Ghibli S Q4 GranLusso and torn about what to do next. I realize that some of this is emotional and i cant go wrong with either.

I like the new model year (and all the new technology) in the MB but there is something about the Maserati that makes it even more special. The downside of the Maserati to me is the user technology - it seems very dated - and the cloud over Italian cars (Maserati in particular) about their quality. Not sure of the downside of the MB.

Looking for opinions and insights from the crowd on performance, quality and features on these two fantastic driving machines.

Thanks in advance!

I would not buy a Maserati because there is no established used car value and service outside large cities is about nil. Mercedes is known value plus the CLS53 is the latest in technology. I love mine but I wish I had waited for the AMG53 4dr. to compare both cars and then made my decision.

There really isn't much of a comparison outside of the way the Maser looks and drives. Everything else is nearly at the joke level vs a Mercedes. The Maser is using E-Class tech from the W210 E-Class/Chrysler 300 as a base. Still though, really pretty and their leather choices are much better than Mercedes.

yeah...i agree...and that is why i am torn a bit. I really love what the MY19 CLS feels like inside. I would almost feel better (not really) about the Maserati if they they had an old FM tuner and a cassette player inside...at least they would be honest about their technology.

The underlying concern (rationale or not) is that if they don't try to differentiate the user interface from that of a jeep, what else are the compromising on?

Nothing depreciates like a Maserati. No way I would touch one.

MB’s of all kinds.
The Maserati is a joke I am sorry. I had a 2006 Grand Sport Coupe. What a great car! Ferrari V8 Engine that made a musical sound The Maserati of today is not like that of the GS. Today it shares many Chrysler Parts. Similar to what my Dodge Caravan has such as window switches, dials and turn signals...The Navigation system looks like a Garmin I used back in 2007... The Ghibli is also just ugly as sin too

Both cars are sweet but I love MB. Only issue I have with the new CLS is the (US Model) rear bumper pop out, just looks awkward. The interior is amazing and nothing short of top quality. Even with the rear I would go CLS.

You won't regret with the CLS but you might regret with the Maser.

End of story.
