Thanks. You're a great source of information and that is good advice. While I'm skeptical that MB would jump at the chance to install yet a fourth 48v battery in my four-month old E450 wagon absent an official recall, it certainly doesn't hurt to ask. So far so good with battery #3, but I still have real trust issues when it comes to taking it on a 2,400 mile trip in the dead of winter with my wife and dog in tow.
I am grateful for the help I received as well as most of the time, the enthusiasts and engineers on the forums know our cars much better than the technicians at the dealership. Forum members too have greater awareness of service bulletins/Xentry Tips that help solve issues my car had. Without this information, the technicians will spend hours to identify an issue and if they give up because they couldn't find it, they will say it is normal. So I want to say thank you as well for those who are actively helping others on the forum.
I am glad you found the information I provided you helpful. Honestly, I would ask your dealership anyways but I also want you to not worry too much about it, don't let it stress you too much. After all, you paid all this money to get this car as a reward for your hard work, you should enjoy it instead of worrying about what might break after. I have a friend (on this forum) that had a problematic car which when he got rid of it, I was in full relief and I congratulated him now that he no longer has to deal with it.
Good luck with your car and please do enjoy your trip!

Sorry to hear MB hasn’t gotten their act together yet for the W223 launch.

So sorry to hear this. Your symptoms sound a little different from many one this thread in that you have been able to actually start your car. Did you receive any alerts about the 48v or 12v battery?

Well my E200 Coupe Facelift MY 2020 broke down in february after 2 days of delivery with only 4 miles on it. I literally didnt even get to drive it at all and it's been sitting in the dealer since. Every time they push back the date of receiving the new 48V battery and the latest date is for the 15th of october and they are saying it could still be pushed back for a 4th time ....
Last time I will buy a mercedes for sure.

Forgot to ask, when the engine turned off automatically after starting for a few seconds could it be because the 12V battery was discharged too much to convert voltage to charge the 48V battery. Question is did you try jump starting the 12V battery?

Thanks for asking. I haven't take the trip yet but I'm now over 2,300 miles and everything is still looking good. I know I'm not necessarily out of the woods but I'm breathing a little easier.

So i called service department to tell them the car was enroute. They say there's no need. An advisor will call me when they find out something. I call the dealer 3 times and they don't know where the car is and it's not in the tow log. I keep getting the, we'll call you back when we find out what's going on".

Yea i saw it was there so kinda stupid they couldn't find it. They finally got eyes on my car after 5 hours. Said they've been backed up. They will update me by tomorrow evening about the diagnosis.
