Presidents edition CLS 55

Has anyone heard of, or own the Presidents Edition CLS 55. I would like to know what is so special about this car. The dealer claims that this car is 1 of 12 produced. This "Extremely Rare" edition was offered to the top 12 Mercedes dealers nation wide. I could't pick out anything special about the car besides couple of trimmings - Baby Grand Piano woodgrain and an ugly Alcantra Red leather interior - no offense.

I haven't seen the CLS55 Presidential Edition yet, but I did see an E55 Presidential Edition in person. It had carbon fiber interior trim (and LOTS of it) and a few other cosmetic items. I saw the window sticker as well, and it did say "Presidential Edition" with approx. $12,000 price for this option.

Maybe the dealer gets to pick their own options?

2019 G550. 2018 AMG GT roadster
There was a thread on this car last year

Apparently there were 12 made. One for each MB board member. Apparently the color and interior are unique to this car. Designo diamond black and the same leather color that is in the SLR. One was for sale on ebay a while back.

This particular 2006 President's Edition CLS55

I looked into buying this car last month. It is for sale at McCarty Motors LLC (704) 663-4994; <www.mccartymotorsllc.com>. I found it via Autotrader. It had 6,800 miles and asking price was $95k. I researched this car back via Google and found the particular history of this vehicle interesting. It was one of 12 President's Edition which Mercedes built for its 12 member US dealer board. It has the special interior (piano black trim and berry-red interior) and the special black diamond exterior paint. I personally think the berry red interior is the most attractive thing I have seen on a CLS. However, these special colors and interior are the only distinguishing characteristics of this Edition from any other well optioned 2006 CLS55. This particular car was given/sold to Mercedes dealer Beck Imports of Charlotte, NC. They tried to sell it for over $110K back in August of 2005. Apparently it didn't sell until Feb of 2006, the reported in-service date. First owner was the wife of Nascar driver. She only had it for 700 miles. Currently owned by a lawyer in NC and is consigned for sale at McCarty. I even contacted a BenzWorld member who actually flew to NC to inspect the car back in 2005, but decided against it based on the bluish hue on the 'black diamond' exterior paint of this vehicle, which he apparently didn't like. He bought a Black on Black CLS55 instead, imagine that! I ultimately decided against buying a CLS55 (bought a 2007 BMW 650 instead), so I never followed up further than this. At the right price, I think it would be a very unusual CLS55 to own. Z356

Thread resurrection.......

I stumbled across this car today while looking for another CLS to buy and was trying to research the validity of the claim that this car was one of only 12 made.....

Currently I have a 2007 CLS550 with only 39K miles on the clock and was hoping to get top dollar out of it....either in trade for something else or a sale out right.

Here is the car that is being offered:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-Mercede...9WzAox&vxp=mtr

Is there any value here or is it just colored bubbles?
