AMG GT S
kEEPING OR SELLING

Hello MBWorld Members,

I had the luck to win a new AMG GTS.
The exact list of the equipment I do not have yet.

But some thinks I already know:
-blue metallic
-19" AMG rims
-Silver Chrome package
-Command online
-Nappa enterior
-seat heating
-Cup holder
-Speedtronic
-door amg plates
-insulating glas
-adaptive highbeam assist
-COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS
-Keyless go
-and all the other basic stuff
At the end the value is about 160.000 EURO
I will get the car next week.

I am from germany and I do not know what to do.
I would love to ride that car and theoretically I could afford to drive it.
But 160.000 euro is a lot money, which I could use for studying etc.
In my opinion there are 2 opinons.
1: - Sell the car with out vehicle registration and 0 kilometers maybe I could sell it for more than list price.
2: - Drive it for 3-5k kilometers and try to sell it low under list price?
Is this realistic?

What would you do?
is it possible to sell it over the common lis price?

Thank you very much

Marcel

Congratulations!

You have an early delivery so I would try to sell it to someone who has to have one right away. They would love your car and would probably pay list or even a premium for an untitled car.

If it is important to you to be first on the block and have no doubts about driving the car then keep it and see the value go down. AMG cars do depreciate more than a non-AMG Mercedes. It would be a nice car to drive during your studies though.

Wow congrats. That is quite a win !!!

If you're a car enthusiast you have to keep the car long enough to drive it and then make your decision. If not so much a car guy, then sell it. Either way the DM's you get will be a windfall.

How did you win that car??
You should keep it and enjoy it for a little while then sell it.

He probably got it in a raffle like the MBCA raffle for a GT-S in June.

There is no guarantee that the MBCA raffle winner will actually get a GT/S.
Read the small print.

It is common for car raffles in the US to have an alternate grand prize if a minimum number of tickets is not sold.

That has not been my experience. I have participated in many raffles without a "minimum number" of tickets sold requirement/condition.

Read the fine print on these. I don't think anyone would want a non-profit or charitable group to lose money on a fund-raiser.

My comment was simply in the interest of transparency, nothing more

A couple of things. Are you responsible for taxes on the winnings? If so, may need to sell to cover. Are you forced to have it titled in your name, as I'm assuming will be the case as MB needs to sign it over to someone? If that's the case drive it for a bit and sell it within this calendar year. My .02. Good luck, it's a great problem to have.
