Is the Brilliant Blue too brilliant?

I initially ordered my GTS in Brilliant Blue, but I am getting cold feet about the color. I am concerned that the blue may be too bright.

The photos of this car in particular suggest that the blue is very bright:

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11504079...5/highphotos#0

I suspect that the lighting in the above photo is increasing the brightness of the blue. These photos suggest a slightly more subdued color:

The Selenite Grey Metallic is not nearly as dynamic, but it is a much safer bet. In other words, I know I will like the grey, and I will not regret the color. With the blue, I might love it, but I might also hate it. In other words, it is a greater risk -- big upside, but also big downside.

There is supposed to be a Brilliant Blue GTS arriving at a dealership approx 90 mins from my house. I am going to try to see it in person. Otherwise, I am leaning towards the grey.

Ps: I am getting black wheels.

Thoughts? Any Brilliant Blue owners here? Anyone seen it in person?

I have not seen the Brilliant Blue in person but I have seen the South Seas Blue on SUVs. I think the Brilliant Blue is more blue. After looking at a lot of cars on the local dealer lot, you see plenty of silver, black, grey and white. Much lesser blue and even fewer red. Yellow none. Magno none. Saw a cardinal red on the showroom floor (not GTS) and liked the Mars red more. In the sunlight with a lot of chrome accent the BB would probably look pretty cool.

I took these when it was overcast at our C&C.

I took this at Amelia in full sun. The matte silver didn't highlight the car as much as the blue. Also they had a red and a yellow that were also a better choice over the matte.

Wink It is an awesome color

I was fortunate enough to be invited by MB to the West Coast to drive these cars on the track.

So, I am in my mid 60's and therefore in general favor " ago appropriate" colors.

I absolutely love the brilliant blue - it is stunning and if blue in general is your thing you are going to love this one.

I wanted an Edition 1, which in this country is only available in grey. If not, the blue would have probably been my number one choice.

You did not say, but it is going to be critical to pick the right interior color to go with it - what color did you pick?

Just saw the blue one today. It's very blue but not too brilliant. I took some pics.

I am not a huge fan of blue and wouldn't buy it, but it did look nice...

It is the best color in my opinion. I went back and forth on ordering a blue one or my Edition 1. I ultimately went with the Edition 1 for some of the options not avaialable on other models. I hope they offer this blue when the GT Black Series is released in afew years, I will order one in that color for sure.

Absolutely stunning

The blue is the absolutely most stunning colour I have seen on the GT(S). Fortunately, my Mercedes dealer (over time) had GT(S) models of all colours (black, grey, silver, red, yellow, blue) in his show room. Black and grey are fantastic classic colours, and safe bets; but this car in blue is about the most amazing and stunning choice I'ver ever seen. No photo, yet, did capture fully the beauty of this incredible paint.
However, blue does not go well with red. So, if you go for the blue, you have to invest the extra money for the ceramic brakes (and preferably) black rims, and potentially the night exterior option. In addition, this choice makes you the owner of a car that (almost) nobody owns. Black, grey and silver, you see all over the place.

Definitely not. I almost wish it was more "brilliant."

Looks great in the sunlight but you almost cannot tell it's blue when it's dark outside.

I had multiple salespeople from multiple dealers rave over brilliant blue for this car, not that their opinion matters more, but they obviously have seen them all in the flesh.

I like the color. It has kind of a Viper GTS / Ford GT vibe to it.

The first GTS I ever saw in the flesh is this blue, looks fantastic !!
I prefer it over the" supposedly" more popular colors like gray and black by a mile easy .

IMO, the AMG GT is a very difficult car to colour balance.

Night/Chrome package, black/silver wheels, pano roof, all adjust accent and highlight details.

Blue is a great colour, but is either very high contrast with silver wheels/chrome, or very low contrast with black wheels/night.

In retrospect, carbon exterior pack could be great middle ground, which is something worth considering.

Good luck
