GTS ENGINE BLOWN

Just an FYI: report of a GTS with 6200 miles had a connection rod go resulting in a fist-sized hole through the engine. OP stated was driving in C mode when this happened, smoke inside car and causing him to loose control.

Yes it does. Just an FYI for those how care. In all seriousness, this could result in a serious safety issue. Hopefully this is just an anomaly.

If it started fish tailing and he lost control it must have oiled down the rear tires.

My Edition 1 still runs like a Rolex. Fingers crossed.

....Rolex's are not a very good benchmark lol. Terrible movement actually. My Rolex is the worst timepeice in my collection. Only people with no clue about watches would think it's a high quality piece.

Ah to have what you have and to know what you know would be divine. I would give up all, save my Timex, to have your wisdom, even my generous ***** for your humble organ.

That is the first blown engine reported on this platform. Thanks for sharing.
It would be interesting to get more info and know if the car was stock.

Garbage To - Sell

AMG GT-S the meaning - Garbage To - Sell

What a disaster for Mercedes Benz AMG to sell to the poor buying public, deceived in every way that this is a high quality "Flagship" car.

I LOVE PORSCHES.

You bring up a very valid point, but I am pretty sure that recall was limited to 2014's, I thought they discovered it and pushed back production of 2015's. Either way it was a major black eye for Porsche so I'll give you that. I think the difference that jumps out at me is AMG never once said there was a problem with early GT-S's and based on all the complaints from Edition 1 and early non edition 1 owners there were multiple issues, some of which were major. Porsche was up front with it's issue. Obviously the Porsche issue was more of a safety issue than the AMG problems were but nonetheless AMG handled their problems on $160K flagship vehicles in a very poor manner. IT's almost like AMG thought if they ignored the problems they would magically go away. I had a guy on PL who was a GT-S owner involved in a buyback(lemon law) e-mail me some of the legal documents they were trying to get him to sign and let's just say it was disgraceful what they were trying to do. I know for a fact that they bought that car back and then it was listed again on the used open market less than 2 weeks after the buyback and there was nothing on the Carfax about it being a buyback....shady, shady, shady.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I was one of the first people in North America to take delivery of a GT-S and I had problems form day 1, I will also be the first to say that it was an amazing car when it was not in the shop. By far the best AMG ever sold and keep in mind I have owned 4 of the best AMG's ever sold so that is quite the compliment. I wanted to love mine but it lost it's appeal quite quickly. My GT-S spent more time in the shop than my 2 Black Series did in the previous 9 years combined. I might look like some sort of hater but I was the biggest AMG fanboy on the planet a year ago. So while some of you might not like what I have to say everything I am saying is based on real world experiences. I'm not just some forum troll griping to gripe. Last but not least I am sincerely happy to see that the problems appear to be limited to 2016 models built in the first half of the model year production run and that you and others are enjoying your late 2016 and 2017 GT's without any trouble, that's the way it's supposed to be.

Cmon man. I know at your pissed at your 1st edition and you've acknowledged my point, but there are 200k looks at this thread in rennlost about all the engines being crated in from Germany. They were not pushing anything back and kept pumping out 2015 and 2016 models with a failed valve train which pushed all sorts of metal bits thru the engine. ... Watch what happens to value when the P boys extended warranty comes close to running out..

132 pages on cams rings and valves on 2nd and 3rd revision

http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-g...-replaced.html

They are just now getting the coatings on cams on replacement engines. I'd say it's a black eye and a couple of broken ribs.

AMEN. Anyone who can speak better about the issues on hand with GT-S is no other than JRCART. He owns Porsches too! By the way ROMEOE55 all of those 2014 GT3 were recalled and all owners were provided with NEW (complete) engines replaced not fixed. Then while the car is in service back to VPC (not at dealer), they were provided with brand new spanking Carrera 4S until they got their car back. Like what JRCART said, Porsche was UPFRONT and did not ATTEMPT to BS, LIE, nor DENY as what these BUFFOONS from AMG did, mostly and hopefully not to new GT-S owners like you ROMEOE55. BY the way my 911R shipping vessel just unloaded my spanking brand new 911R. Also, I have a GT2RS coming, Wanna race Bud???

Is there a way to tell production date based on VIN number?

From the sounds of it, I've been very lucky 9 months into ownership to not have a single problem (other than the Biturbo emblem).

Since owning my Porsche I have been extremely impressed with how they handle issues.

My car sat at the port for about two weeks due to emissions testing delays. Nothing to do with Porsche or the car at all.

After taking delivery, I received a letter from the head of Porsche North American explaining and apologizing for the delay. He also included a free track day with the new 911 turbo s at the Porsche experience center which also included $100 towards dinner.

How come no one is ever ***** to the wall, mid exit ramp, 7k rpm's when a warrantied engine lets go?

It's always out of no where, taking mom to church, and it almost killed me. Just curious.

Look on the rear of the drivers side door. The manufacture date is there on a decal.

Regards

By now everybody here knows you aren't happy with your GTS. Why didn't you trade it in on one of your new Porsches? Then you could move on with your life AND SO COULD THE REST OF US.

BTW WHY NOT change your posting name here to PORSCHE LOVER too.
