Any pictures of the roll cage of AMG GTR with AMG Track Package

The Track package may not be offered in US but it's a must have option for the car here in Europe at least.

Includes:
4-point safety harness
Fire extinguisher
Roll Cage

However, I don't find any pictures of the roll cage in any marketing material. I would love to see how much room the roll cage takes from the trunk and how does it look like.

The risk is the package is not ready and not yet in production. Same has happened with selected Porsche models before, if you ordered one with race seats or a roll cage it could have been delayed for many months in the start of the production.

So, any pictures or comments appreciated!

I'm very curious to see in the future if GTR owners will be using them to track since it is a beast on the track,, or will they just show it off at their local Cars and Coffee hang outs(lol/jk)like others.
I would like to see what the cage looks like in these cars though, probably pretty cool looking.

The photo was taken in germany.

I havent seen the US DOG so I've no idea if you can spec this in the US. The eu ones were updated recently to allow you to body colour the cage.

It's not in the US DOG. At least not the one I have.

Not DOT-compliant. And not remotely economic for MB to go through cert. process for it. Those 4 or 5 US GT R owners that might want this can go to a race shop to have it fab'd. My guess is somewhere north of $5K in cost. What is the AMG option price in Europe? Proly not far off that....

£2k or $2.4k which includes cage, 4point harnesses (annoyed it didn't come with 6 points) and fire extinguisher.

Surprised you think this will be so unpopular, I'd say 50% will spec in europe.

Spec perhaps; need, not so much. In the sense that I doubt many will track the car.

6-point belts require a tether anchor for the anti-submarine belt that must be tied into the car's frame or monocoque structure. An engineering problem that AMG likely thinks is too costly to solve. Especially if they are of a similar view regarding the number of cars that will see a race track.

In any event, our opinion is of little consequence; the option pkg. is what it is.

I suspect it's because the seat is not slotted rather than a lack of appropriate mounting points. I'm more optimistic about track usage, cars here are being bought by people who can't get a GT3 and they're a popular choice for track here.

Hopefully significant track usage will lead to more genuine performance options.

Proly right about that; replacing the seat would bring up all sorts of Euro/US compliance issues. I installed a race seat+6-points+bar in my Z06 track car, but that was of course after I bot the car. Also, it was fairly easy to do, unlike the MB GT. Which is why I've not messed with it in my GT S.

Here is a picture taken in Portugal from a nice review in the Toronto Star showing the seats, belts and roll cage in the GT-R where they ran with Bernd Schneider.

"The racing-style sport seats which don’t appear to be on the Canadian order form are not height adjustable, so you sit low in the car, peering out over the hood that looks big enough to land a fighter jet on."

I wander how/why BMW does include it in their GTS without much fuss. Do you know?

E63S ED1 Tuned + Wheels, new A45S on its way
Love it, I have one on order, I currently have an Edition one C63S Coupe, wondering how the grey magno paint would go instead of the Green Magno and maybe the same stripes as the current ED1. Any suggestions?

This colour with the same Yellow stripes.

I want one too but I want to make sure the seats work with the harness. A friend of mine bought the gt4 race car, I’m going to try through the race department, maybe they can help me with info.

let me get back to that this week. I need to buy canards and roll hoop with harness. Need to sort that out. I reach my physical limit at cota of holding my body to the steering.

I was there here this weekend. It was perfect!

It is a huge shame that MB doesn't sell the GTR with the half cage option here in the USA, as it is very difficult to remain stationary in the car on a road course given the high limits of adhesion it generates. BMW did it for the M4 GTS, so apparently this is not a US DOT issue; rather its a 'legal' one, meaning the corporate MB attorneys, (like the Porsche ones), wouldn't sign off on the cage option. They must fear too many lawsuits from owners bumping their head on the cage when not restrained correctly in the car. At the least it should be available to purchase for 'off road use only' in the aftermarket.

Interesting one on the cage. There was a world wide recall for Just the reason you state. You could bump your head on the original cage.

The supplies setup is worthless anyway and I still run the 3 points. Admittedly the buckets are much better for keeping you in place.

if the Clubsport doesn’t come with a decent setup and six points I’ve already decided to mod the car👍🏼
