I love it, and 3.4 seconds faster than the 911 turbo S even though the 911 has a weight advantage over the GTR-6.2 lbs per HP for the 911 to 6.4 lbs per Hp for the GTR.

Is it grip Vic? I was curious about this too. The 911 Turbo S should have more grip since it's 4WD and we have all seen the GTR basically sliding through corners since it is RWD, but it seems like the LACK of grip may be one of the reasons it laps so quickly, i.e. the perfect drift through a corner may be faster than a 4WD grip which is why the driver had the traction setting on 7 most of the time in the corners which is almost no traction control.

Right tires, right chassis, right damper settings, and right amount of control in the traction settings... AWD is too intrusive and thus its slower exit times and the unbelievable G force times of the GTR. The key point I picked up from the article was the proper tires = grip.

Absolutely, those things are ripping and on the heels of a $300k to $400k 488GTB. The SS1LE manual will be in my garage soon as my dedicated track car.

Robbie:
Better get those toys and other valuables to high ground ASAP!!
Irma and Jose are planning on visiting you real soon.
I'm in Jax FL and am hoping that the eye will be pulled further east by the gulf stream and if Lady Luck smiles upon us, we'll see a day (Monday) of 60-70 mph winds and rain and little flooding or wind damage.
Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach and all points north are in for some very heavy rain I think since both storms look like they will have combined by then.
Hey I just may see my GTR float by. If the latest rumor is correct they have been sitting outside for 6 months now and the hurricanes will do their level best to float them out to sea again.

Who knows
Stay safe
J, I should be good up here in PA, but please be safe down there(and all), this is going to be a violent one. I spend a lot of time in WPB and Boca, I was down there for Wilma in 2005 and it scared the hell out of me.
As for your car, I really don't have anything to say but be patient. 6 months from now this will all be a memory and the Monster will be in your garage.
Again, be safe, to you and your Family.

What I find interesting is that MB supplied this car with the ZP tires developed for the Z06. The article even mentions that we can get these ZPs instead of the standard PSC2s from MB but to my knowledge, that has never been an option stateside. There is an order guide for the ZPs bare or with a spare set of wheels in the AMG PL but they specifically state that these are not approved for the US.
As far as I can tell, these are the exact same tires as on the vette and can be readily ordered through TireRack so I don't know what MB is referring to as "approved".
I believe the ring time was also set with ZPs, but I don't recall exactly.
