Hey, I assume I'm not invited to your driveway for donuts and orange juice, but just wanted to make sure.

If you've got a GT you're welcome to come. Just be sure not to drink too much coffee as that 26 miles to Pacific Coast Highway will take a while through the twisties.

Pro tip: If you stop moving your lips to sound out the words you can read and even type faster!

You amateurs don't know when to stop. At my age I no longer suffer fools, and I won't suffer you. Bragging about your income on an anonymous automobile board is really pathetic. Your opinions as to what I think or believe are also pathetic. When you slam a member of this board as you did the OP, and do it using poor grammar (which you blamed on some auto-dictation bullcrap), be prepared to get back what you give.

it's not auto dictation bull crap. It's called talk to text. I'm using it right now. That is why the first sentence is not capitalized. You know what? Nobody cares. Nobody bragged about their income. We all own AMGGT's or higher, sorry talk to text did not put a space in there, we mostly own multiple cars. I'm just saying it doesn't take a genius to figure out that everybody on this board probably knows proper grammar and if they don't they may be from another country. Here in the modern era text messages and forum postings are not always perfect.
I am awaiting more pro tips

MBWorld Fanatic!
Sure - interesting thread - and some very good people here - and then there are other's who have character - or are character's - sometimes the line between the two can get a bit fuzzy,,
The GTR is one Hell-Of-A-Mercedes.... deserves respect... and at the same time at/around $200K one heck of a world-class performance machine.. the finest AMG has built - ever...
I am sort of glad the lightly-veiled exporter bowed out "for a yr" - but enough genuine MB enthusiasts have stuck with it..
Keep the beat !

Thank for the clarifications, Sean. I didn't know how "talk to text" worked. So in your post (#134) where you said the OP was "being a dick," when you dictated "could've gone" and "would've gone" it was auto-corrected to "could've went" and "would've went." I'll be sure never to use talk to text. It will make me sound illiterate. (By the way, if it was "talk to text" how did you modify the post 10 minutes later?)
Sent using talk to text

I hope everything works out for you. My process to-date has been a bit different. I am not sure if it is because I am getting a GT rather than a GTR though.
I live in the Chicago area, in the market for a GT. I did talk to multiple dealerships. They all had different views on the likelihood of them being able to get an allocation or to trade for one with another dealership across the country. There seemed to be no options for a trade with other dealerships since the allocations were so limited. Getting an allocation all seemed to come down to each dealership's track record with Mercedes in terms of actually selling GTs in the past and the clientele/profile of the dealership. I felt that the dealerships I spoke to all tried in good faith to secure an allocation, but most were unsuccessful during the time I was looking. The dealership that I ultimately went with has sold several GTs, has a high profile clientele and I have purchased from them in the past. This dealership is also closest to where I live. Less than two weeks after I placed my factory order in early October and put down a nominal deposit ($2000), the dealership received the allocation from Mercedes with a build date of mid-January. If there are no delays, they told me I could expect the car by late February. We will see how the timeline works in reality, but this has been my experience so far.
