I know you don’t own an AMG. Have you even driven a GT or GTR?
Can't make this stuff up. Just the facts. Number 1 in the good old USA.
I've owned about 800k in new MB products. Three brand new AMG cars. Cls63, E63S, Ml63. I have been a passenger and driven several GT cars. Love them! Just stating facts about the direction of AMG and the declining quality of MB across the board.
lol it's in the toilet. Take the blinders off. Let’s see what is the HIGHEST recalled car in America? Answer— the C class.
I have no problem being critical when something isn’t good but your own statements just dismiss you as a troll.
AMG now is churning out their best cars in company history and with the AMG GT series they have stood up the best contender to the 911’s and that in record time. MB & AMG ICE engines are also considered the most modern and best of any car manufacturer.
In terms of sales they also seem to be doing well.
So whatever you think is happening with MB is likely in your head...
Where can I get this mesh? I already borke one radiator at a track day.
You can get them in sheets from Amazon. They're aluminum and won't rust. Remove the bumper, cut to size and attach with silicone adhesive, epoxy, or safety wire.
I agree with you for once that it is a "contender." Now, being the "best" contender is really pushing it quite a bit.
PORSCHE is not being pitted against the like of McLaren 720S if we are talking about GT2RS. The current AMG GT-R is a "good" competitor against the 991.2 GT3.
We will wait for the Back Series and how it performs.
Drive safe,

Porsche at this point considers AMG it’s primary competitor; they are not concerned about McLaren, etc. as they will not cut into Porsche’s sales in any significant way.
AMG has deeper pockets and their cars have good street cred in places like Germany where it matters. Porsche’s GT cars are highely refined but it’s decades of ongoing adjustments. You have to expect Porsche to be better given it’s decades long lead. But so far, they appear to be exactly one generation ahead. So, AMG GT’s have cut into 911 teritory in pretty fast order.
The AMG GT 4door (dumb name) is squarely aimed at Panamera customers and if AMG decides to build dedicated SUV platforms, it’ll pick up a lot of Porsche customers, given that these are the cash cow models...
Either way, all is good fierce competition will benefit everyone and the EV development will only accelerate that
hydraulic pump is electric. A say a busted relay or voltage regulator.
I thought it was belt driven hydraulic, but I guess that's the rest of the GT series and not the GT-R. Clearly in that photo of the engine it doesn't look like there's a hydro pump anywhere.

Update: Got my car back today and all is well. It was exactly one-week ago when the belt broke. Dealer gave me a 2018 GLA for a loaner. Was strange for a bit hopping back into the GTR after a week of the GLA. One thing that was nice, when I went to the gym, shopping and work. I was able to park up front and grab the first available spot. Instead of being OCD and always driving around looking for a choice spot. I sometimes make a joke and say I park so far away that I now have to call a cab to get to where I was originally going to - lol.

You are exactly like me, whenever I get a loaner for a long time I feel so strange going back to such a different drive and car. I always park on corners too 😂 but hey, we keep our cars prestine. Glad you’re issues have been resolved. I urged the VP here to look into the mesh problem, apparently MB is going to find a solution or is looking for one
I got a response from AMG that you can order original protection for E63, S63 and AMG GT. The GT part no. is A0995030400 and will be available at the end of June 2018 for $20-30 USD.
