Is the photo of an SL or the next GT? With that grille it must be the SL.

Good call Scott. The blue car is a 2+2 as rumored next SL.

The article points out that the new generation GT AND SL cars will share a great deal of architecture; hence the spy shot of the SL as I guess there's no good spy shot/graphic of what the next GT might look like. However there is a ton of information, (speculation?) on the future GT.

Word is that the next SL will be the only high-end roadster. The AMG GT roadsters will go away along with the S-Class cab. That blue car is an ancient R232 SL render btw.

Certainly the fact that the next gen SL and GT will share the same platform will make the current generation more special. And if the next gen GT follows the depreciation curve of the SL, it won't bold well for next gen GT owners.

Hopefully the 1st gen GT values will stay strong once production ends... RWD, no electric motors and battery, louder exhaust, bespoke chassis and unique 'retro-modern' design?
It will also come down to volume sold. Does anyone know how many GTs have been sold by model? I've seen the sales for all GTs, but they were not broken down by C, R, S, base.

Very interesting. I had shared with the forum that this was my wish for the BS (electrification and AWD ala E63) and MB is granting it with the new GT . With a simple tune, you will be close to 800hp. If the BS is not adopting any of that technology, I will relinquish my BS series spot and patiently wait for the new GT model.

I’m sure the 2022 AMG GT will be incredibly fast with AWD and great on fuel economy with electric motors; but I’ll be glad to have the last gasoline only RWD GT. The new car will lose the rawness of the engine, the exhaust will be quieter, and you always lose steering feel with AWD. Integration of the gas and electric motors will undoubtedly lose some of the directness and naturalness in the drivetrain (like how the BMW i8 doesn’t feel the same as the GT).
