CCB question
I have a 2018 AMG GTR i bought used about 6 months ago. My main reason for the purchase was to track it as i have a great track 15 miles from the house. I am new to CCBs and running on the track. I was getting my front brake pads changed out at MB and they pointed out a chip in my rear rotor. I was planning on doing one more track session before trading. My question is, with the small chip, should i get the rotors replaced before next track session?
Also, you should be able to find one rear rotor for much less than $10K!!

Thanks! Ive been out of town so picking it up tomorrow. Will watch closely. Yeah i hear ya on that. Mercedes just wants to try and sell you everything they can.My pads were low on my e63 and they tried to sell me rotors saying AMG requires changing both out....... Needless to say they are just changing pads

Assume the pricing would be roughly the same but Ebay may have them cheaper. As Bish mentioned, the chip is outside the brake surface and shouldn't harm anything. No need to replace...

I should mention that our rotors were replaced under warranty but I wanted to get new pads just in case of potential embedded debris...
Mercedes told me I need to replace and not to track due to they could get hot and disentigrate . However I am constantly seeing people say it’s ok.
any other reassures out there? Has anyone ever seen a failure of CCB?
Personally I would run on my local track if I had a small chip that was not in the pad contact zone like yours. I’d take it a little easier during the first session and keep a close eye on the rotor also.
Are you saying you overheated the engine on a GTR on track? If so, that’s the first issue I’ve ever heard of anyone ‘overheating’ this car on a road course; especially weird given the time of the year. I run in ‘Race’ mode, and generally just let the car do it’s thing, and I’ve never came close to overheating anything even in a Kansas summer, and they’re bloody hot! lol

but car performed great. I kept up/passed everyone in my group besides a pro driver an MP4. Know it’s not a faster car but damn the driver was good
Also, you need to upgrade the brake fluid to something more track oriented. Castrol SRF or similar. As for oil I would use the stock oil that comes with the car.
I got brave throughout the day and turned off traction little by little. Great feature on that car.
CCBs are great and don't listen to chickens telling you how "scary costly" they are. Yes, they can get damaged but that's a really rare occurrence. At the end of the day the "AMG" CCB brake system is just a dead simple Brembo brake caliper, Brembo CC rotor and a Textar brake pad.
