My first flat tire with the amg gtr

So i was cruising down the city and suddenly a notif popped out on the screen that says tire pressure was 175 which is low because normally its 210 or so. Then i went to gas station to inflate the tire took me some time but it was about 215 when i was finished So its been 2 days and this morning right before i go to the gym i see this probably a nail or something in the tire i called mercedes to see what they can do about it and there is my first flat tire

If it is just a screw/nail in the main tread area of the tyre, at least 1” away from the sidewall, you should easily be able to get a plug/patch to repair the tyre. Do not let the dealership tell you otherwise as they will no doubt want to replace the tyre.

You mean replace the tyre(s) as in plural. That's what they did to me.

If you track the car you need to replace the tire. A plug and/or patch is fine for normal everyday street use.

So if the flat is caused by just a small puncture via a screw/nail and is in the ‘meat’ of the tread, away from the sidewall, a plug/patch will be incredibly safe even on a road course IMHO; certainly on the rear. As benzbell mentions on the street it is a non-event.

Not sure about the speed limits in Turkey but I wouldn't risk a patching a front tire. Had a rear tire blow at 130mph in Germany but a front tire blow-out at those speeds do not end well.

Did you do a patch or did you just chance the tires instead

Dealer said that MB recommends replacing both tires. Of course it was just a recommendation. Car was almost brand new with less than a thousand miles and it irritated me to have to plug it. With the car being still so new. So I replaced both tires. Then it happened again in another 2k miles and I bought another pair. I guess the bright side is I don't ever have to worry about how soon my tires (tread) wear out. I don't seem to have that problem.

Just FYI: Michelin recommends a combination plug/patch repair, although if your shop doesn’t do that a patch would be far better than just a plug imho.

Opposite. If you blow out a front tire, your can steer, and control the car. With a rear tire blow out, you are just along for the ride, with much less control.

Dang thats some incredibly bad luck. I would have patched it the second time and prayed that the curse was lifted haha

Happened in my Huracan in the rear as well. At least this time on tire(s) replacement. I felt like I somewhat got my moneys worth because there was a screw in each rear tire - lol. Couldn't believe it. But the tech made a video and sent it to me. Was actually pretty cool how the tech does a walk around inspection of the car on the lift and videos it and you get a link to watch it. This was done at Lamborghini Las Vegas - technically Henderson. I got screwed by the screw(s) again.

Well I speak of my actual experience and seen a few people die on the Autobahn with a front tire blow-out. Unfortunate side effect growing up in Germany and seeing some hair raising accidents. My blow-out was rather uneventful.
