AMG GT S service / maintenance cost

Hi

I'm looking at a GT S and I'm in the final stage in purchasing the car I have selected, but service B is required within 90 days.

The car is registered for traffic 2015-09 and the mileage is around 25000km so this would be the 5-year service.
Is this a major service? Did a bit of Googling and it seems like the spark plugs should be replaced.

I know that I should give Mercedes a call, but no workshop is working during Sundays.

Thanks!

Nothing major is required until the 4 year/60k km mark. no need to replace the spark plugs now. Just do an oil change (annually), brake flush (every 2 years), and check the coolant and power steering yourself. Have them look underneath for leaks. The B Service is a waste of money, you are paying for someone to check if your lights work and your horn honks.

I appreciate your reply, but since money is not growing on trees in my garden I’m very careful that the second hand value is as good as possible which means that I will do all of the maintenance at Mercedes.

Since the car is in fact more than 4 years old, would that not mean that there is a big service coming up now?

No.

What Surge said is exactly correct just do “A” Services and check your own windshield wiper fluid and tire pressure lol.

I will add that everyone needs blow out their intercoolers as a bunch of dust and rocks gets in there.

Check the maintenance required for the 4 year mark - I believe you may need to do the transmission/diff fluid (it’s shared, at least on the electronic LSD). I think that’s it, in addition to the oil and brake fluid flush.

It’s exactly because “money doesn’t grow on trees” that you should only ask for specific things to be done. By all means, do it at a dealership; just don’t ask for the “Service A or B” or you’ll be charged for basic stuff like checking that the lights work. Up to you if you want to pay $100/hr for that.

Here in Southern California the price for service B at an AMG Mercedes dealership ranges from approximately $500-850. Spark plugs do not need to be replaced.

I do the service myself on my car as per Mercedes WIS (factory service manual). It is NOT hard.

TONS and TONS of inspect this and check that with Service A and Service B on this car. Important but no significant $ tied into that.
Change the engine oil and filter at each.
Change the charcoal / cabin filter each service B if you desire.

What MB suggests besides that:
Every 2 years: change brake fluid. Strongly suggested, do not skimp on this.
Every 3 years/30,000 miles: replace engine air filters
Every 4 years/40,000 miles: change the fluid in the DCT transmission assembly
Every 5 years/50,000 miles: replace spark plugs (I would do this in smaller intervals if tuned)
Every 12 years/120,00 miles: replace fuel filter and replace coolant

If you drive it hard and aggressive, I would suggest speeding those all up a bit to smaller intervals, if doing track days, even quicker.

What are you guys paying for trans fluid flush and spark plugs? Probably not many owners with cars that old lol. Want to see if my dealer is charging fair prices. Was quoted $985 for trans fluid.

I was quoted over $1000 by 2 South Florida dealers for my B2 service, I am going to check with the local independent for just the oil and brake fluid change.

Crap for that price I could make a killing doing the oil and brake fluid change for friends for 500................. So to do a brake fluid change it takes about two big bottles of DOT 4 brake fluid and a vacuum device. I use the vacuum pump that Harbor Freight sells for about 90 dollars last time I checked. It holds a couple gallons of whatever fluid your sucking out. The job was very easy and took about an hour.

Oil is also very easy and takes less than an hour. Add 6.5 to 7 quarts of Mobile 1 and a filter and your less than $100 dollars for an oil change.

can you provide any guidance as how to remove components in sequence to replace spark plugs on an AMG GTS 2016?
