likewise! Enjoy in good health

Does anyone know why the carbon seats are not available in N America? Seems like a big miss, as they are part of what differentiates the GTR and GTR Pro from the GTC. And in the Pro the carbon seats are bespoke and even lighter than in the GTR.

I understood it to be with seat belt and airbag laws. I believe China is in the same boat as us here in NA.

Agreed that it is a miss though...although the seat that came are pretty comfortable.

The lack of carbon one piece seats for the R and Pro and a big miss! The carbon buckets in a Porsche make a massive difference in how connected you feel to the car, not to mention significant weight savings. If I had an R or Pro I would be finding out how to retrofit the seats immediately.

I wouldn’t mind the retrofit for my seat - but for the daughters car seat I need to the stock.

Anyone know if AMG sells the carbon seats?

The carbon fibre seats do show up in the parts list. My dealer told me I could order them if I wanted.

They will but possibly only in Europe. I know that the CLK Blackseries carbon doors were only available in europe for example.

But they're just Recaro Pole Positions. If you really want them you can just buy them and have them retrimmed to match for probably the same money.

The real issue is programming out all the error codes that you'll get when you unplug your electric seats.

I had my first like for like test today of PRO vs GTR on track at Snetterton.

My last session in summer 2019 in the GTR I ran 2:07, dry conditions.

Today in the PRO, totally dry but maybe a little cooler I ran 2:05.

Both laps on cup2 and timed with track pace.

I only actually ran about 15-20 laps in the PRO as I spent most of the day in my M3 track car so there may be another second in there. But equally my driving may be a little better now too.

If ya want the best and lightest carbon fiber seats check out https://www.reverie.ltd.uk/seats.php

I've used them for twelve years in my old Lotus.. Four spinal surgeries and still perfect..

I did have thin seat pads made at first but found only the headrest pad was needed. I've driven the car to Vegas and back to LA in one day and did not find the need for seat padding but then again I did have triple adjustable Nitron Race shocks dialed in perfectly so that when you were buckled in you were part of the car and no need for padding..

I think a lot of Porsche owners get the LWB's (racing buckets) because it's cool to have them. There are many threads on RL about companies who make brackets to lift the seat in the front to tilt it back further. Not to mention special padding to add to the seats as well. I spent a day in them and hated them. They are just too upright. For reference I'm 6'2" tall and weigh 190 pounds and have no back issues. I always felt like my head was being pushed forward. This in turn made me want to press my head further back, which gave me a neck ache and that turned into a headache. Some suggested taking the top pad off but that's a bad idea as well. Seat will look stupid with that missing. I don't know how you could track the car with a helmet on and your head pushed that much further forward. It was horrible to me. I DD the car so I got the sofas (18 way adjustable and heated). It makes it easier to get in and out of the car and I can also move the seat back forward to access all of the storage in the rear. I know there are many who got them who don't care for them but don't really want to say anything about it. They are tolerable once you add the brackets and get the extra inch of recline out of them. Unless it's primarily for track only forget them - just my opinion.

I can tell by looking at the seats ronin amg posted that they are comfortable because they are not as upright. Porsche really missed the mark on those seats in my opinion.

One of the main reasons I traded in my GT3 for the Turbo, even with custom spacers to tilt the seat back the headrest still pushed my head forward.
I have no idea how anyone could spend a any time on track wearing a helmet in the damn Porsche buckets..

I have read on RL that you have to remove the small black padding at the headrest area in the LWB seats in order to be comfortable wearing a helmet. Why Porsche won’t import the older style GT2 buckets is beyond me. Didn’t they allow for adjusting the backrest angle? Or at least the angulation was more ‘reclined’.

Only adjustment was forward and back, zero lean with the fixed back rest....If you pulled off the headrest padding all you would get is banging the helmet against the seat.. The absolute worst seats ever..
