Engine oil level
I just got a 17 GT. Just curious, is the oil level sensor very sensitive? When I test drove the car it said a message about oil level too high. So the tech drained it and it said oil level check ok. On the way home a messaged popped up saying engine oil level low. Do these cars take Mobil one euro 0/40?

Does your ‘17 GT also have an actual ‘dipstick’? My ‘18 GTR does, and I only trust it versus the electronic oil level sensor, which I only use as a rough guide. Get the engine oil warm; park on a level surface; turn off the car, and then check the dry sump physical dipstick after 5 minutes. Adjust oil level accordingly. And yes, the Mobil 1 10W-40 Euro oil is the correct oil to use.

The oil filling procedure says that oil only can be measured properly when the oil is above 100C (210F). So, run the engine and then measure and adjust. You need to let the car run with transmission in Comfort for 30 sec (lowest idle RPM). Shut off and measure within the first 3 min or so as the level will go down in the tank. Use the dipstick indeed. When properly done, there is a quart of 'play' between dipstick min and max. So, not that 'sensitive', it is just that you need to test it hot in the right way. If I were to do it myself, slightly under-fill to 7L and then top off to the right level. Not that difficult. Note: The dipstick is useless when the engine is cold.
I have had issues with MB technicians filling while not at temperature, especially when rushing, because they don't want to wait for proper temperature. Without exception, it is always overfilled. I pulled 1.5 quarts out of it the last time this happened. (I was not too happy!).
What does the "fix" involve?

Mine GT was also overfilled last time. Techs don't have patience (or pride in their work).

What I was trying to elude to in my reply earlier, there is a campaign on some of the GT cars for a maintenance software update, directly specifying false low oil level indicator. Just call dealer and give your VIN, maybe some of you are this.

After changing the oil two times in my car myself I learned to put in ONE quart less than what the filling capacity is. If you fill to capacity you will get a REMOVE one quart after you drive for a while. I learned this the hard way.

I have had this warning pop up after my oil change. Very annoying... Need to get the TSB checked out and visit the dealer ASAP or just have them remove oil.

Oil expands when engine gets hot. You need to drive it for a while checking the oil temp in the dash. Then top it off using the stick. Needs to be half way between min and max.

I got the message 2 weeks ago, the next morning after annual service was done. The warning disappeared the next day and never came back on. My other 2 friends with GT R had the same message also after their scheduled maintenance. Not quite sure why MB technicians couldn’t get it right after these years, probably it’s too minor to even pay attention to?

Check this long running thread. https://mbworld.org/forums/coupe-roa...tenance-3.html
Alexfor8's post on 5/5/17 says 7.39 liters will keep the warning from coming up. I find that's about right.
