Love the ASKCarbon wheels

So based on comments above, I understand that:
- All buttons on left hand side (cruise control) do not work?
- Lane Assist vibration function does not work?
- Comes with airbag but unclear if as effective as OEM in a collision?
- Made in China, not OEM replacement?

Am I correct - good to know before I order

all the buttons work , even the touch pads. The only buttons that do not are the cruise control as that function is still activated with the stick on the steering column if that makes sense.

2. lane vibration is an added option can be done.

3. it included an OEM Mercedes airbag with Part #s (all genuine) they stressed this heavily . I even confirmed with my dealership.

4. they are customized in eupope and Asia depending on their stock and the job @ hand. They are made using OEM Mercedes AMG parts. So it’s not aftermarket. My steering wheel has the oem Benz logos and parts # just as my stock wheel had.

hope that helps!

My car doesn't have lane assist. It was $1700 with the shift lights, and its plug and play with a new airbag other than one power wire for the shift lights I have to tap into. I was an EE so no biggie.

I just got my new steering wheel and installed it (pics soon), The shift lights use a Bluetooth module that plugs into the ODB2 port. its about the size of a box of playing cards and trying to figure out where to hide it. anyone done this, I was going to pull the lower panel down above the pedals and see if I can zip tie it in there.

The wheel I got is the 2020 wheel modified with satin carbon and new switches/controls, and a new airbag. and the LED shift lights, its plug and play, You get the wheel, wheel switches (cruise, menu, phone etc) and new paddles.. took me about 30 minutes to install including the Bluetooth module for the shift lights (its an ODBII pass through) the hardest part was breaking the center Allen bolt lose on the original wheel. Long torque wrench did the trick with a 10mm Allen socket. Only thing I may change is getting matte switch plates, the gloss black are hard to read in the sun.

its a great looking wheel. But one of the typical shortcomings on this upgrade is that the column has the controls for cruise so unless you would replace the top of the steering column with this modification, the control buttons on the steering wheel itself, don't work. So, are you saying you found a way to get them to work? if so, what did you do - please share!

I'll try it tomorrow, but everything else works so I'd be surprised if it didn't.

And big bonus was that after disconnecting battery for an hour, transmission reset and car a lot more responsive. I will probably do this a couple times a year.
Hey man -

can you elaborate on the transmission reset and responsiveness?

Ive got almost 13,000km on my car now. Will a reset improve transmission response?

Transmission reset is easy to do. You don’t need to disconnect the battery

read this:

http://www.mercedesmedic.com/reset-mercedes-benz-transmission-procedure-instructions/

the other item you can use to eliminate throttle lag is a pedalbox.

cheers!

You're correct the steering wheel cruise buttons don't work. I don't use cruise much so I'll just use the stalk, I may see if it can be re-coded with star at some point to work.

I don't believe that it's a coding thing. My guess is this is like the modification where people updated their W204 to the W205 steering wheel - it required replacing the top portion of the steering stalk to get all of the buttons to work.

just havent seen a video showing this modification on our cars yet - not sure if its possible. Side note - this one didnt require recoding.

did the vendor mention anything about not being able to swap out the top of the column?

This, I'm so used to the stalk now anyways that it wouldn't bother me in the least.
