is it the same silver color? Looks more like a GT silver Porsche color on 300.

It is but used the color has little value just like most options. Nobody in their right mind would spend $10k more on a used car for a $10k paint job. Actually have seen this color being a liability on base GT’s.

However, out-of-the-ordinary paint/wrap jobs really set it off. MAGNO colors, bright colors such as solar beam or that awesome shade of blue are great too. It's a crying shame that MB doesn't offer Porsche's level of colors or personalization. I'd love a GT in Miami Blue!
They do! It's called Signature Program.

I think you are correct. It is a dealer from south Florida that specializes in exotic cars and isn't inclined to offer any "deals".

I love pearl effects, so this would hands down be the color I'd choose personally.

Silver Arrows (German: Silberpfeil) was the name given by the press to Germany's dominant Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union Grand Prix motor racing cars between 1934 and 1939. The name was later applied to the Mercedes-Benz Formula One and sports cars in 1954 and 1955, and currently applied to the Mercedes GP/AMG Petronas Motorsport cars from 2010 to present.

For decades until the introduction of sponsorship liveries, each country had its traditional colour in automobile racing. German race cars for their Silver Arrows silver, Italian for their Rosso Corsa red, British ones are British racing green green, French Bleu de France blue, etc.

LeMans Red

I recently ran across a color that I hadn't seen or heard of before to include designo Manufaktur and it was on an SLS Roadster. If I was ordering a GT C Roadster I'd have to as about this color. There's a lot of contrast in this car the biggest of which is the CCBs with the LeMans Red paint and the black wheels.

So it looks like someone already had the idea to get an Orange GTR - not Sunsetbeam Orange, but its Designo Arancia Orange Pearl.

not a fan of the color. Someone must have special ordered that and then they changed their mind. No Dealer would spec a car in such a polarizing color. It may sit on the floor for months .

Not that particular car but, MB USA brought one in that color to my Supercars by the Sea car meet. It was already sold and the owner gave MB permission to bring it out to display it. That was in July 2019.
So it looks like more then one in that Designo Arancia Orange Pearl
color now. It's stunning when you see it in person.
Check out @supercarsbythesea on IG.

Available Paint Colors

Here is the link to the paint choices for your GT as of 2018.. I had this in mid- 2019 and chose Audi Nardo Grey for my 2020 GTRA... As you will see, there are six non-Mercedes colors shown.. Why the dealers don't have this info to readily share with the customers is confusing.. Even the pricing is indicated.. Certainly it takes more production time but that's acceptable when wanting a color that's perfect for you.

Correct! I am in Pittsburgh as well. My understanding is that the northern lights violet GT was purchased by Graham Rahal (Bobby Rahal dealership owner). Graham recently had the car up for sale (Graham Rahal Performance). Guessing it was sold as he no longer has it up for sale.

But yeah, I would think Sunsetbeam Orange would be an interesting AMG GT Black color. That would be a phenomenal spec imo.

There is also a Desert Gold AMG color that is also interesting, tho I think it suits the SLS more than the AMG GT

This doesn't go back to the origins of car racing. The US was initially represented by red and Italy didn't assume that color until 1907 when a red Fiat won the French Grand Prix. Red was the national color for the UK but because it was already taken they went with various greens (Olive, etc) and that variation eventually settled on 'British Racing Green". Additionally, white was the original German racing color, the silver, actually wasn't a color. "Silver Arrows" was derived from the 1930s when the didn't use the traditional white and opted instead for bare metal. Rumors are that it was to shed weight, but I don't think they were as conscious of that then as they are today.

no no no, he’s right and you are wrong. It’s ok to be wrong sometimes. Just chalk it up. Let’s just stick what ninjabones said, it makes me feel better about the colors and specifically silver...LOL

hahaha - is it the white that throws you off, or the fact that silver wasn't really silver?

haha too funny...no but seriously, it’s very cool history if all of it’s true. I like colors that accent the lines, ice colors...but in all reality, every color is gorgeous in its own way...

You guys are just going back too far into the past.
Since we are discussing roadsters, the essential roadster color was silver with the 300SL in the fifties and it stuck.

Iridium Silver with a red interior is a classic MB roadster combo and the color is incredibly practical when it comes to dust and dirt.

I loved it on our SL’s but find that the GT models looks better in other colors. Iridium Silver Magno excluded. Would take that anytime

The ultimate beautiful car - saw a red one in the flesh the other day randomly driving down the street; red/black and hard top though. Speaking of, I have to say, while black is my default go to, the deep red the GTs (designo Cardinal Red Metallic) with the blackout package is just jaw dropping.

Ah nice to see another guy from the area. I heard that was for Graham Rahal himself, but I didn't know if that was a rumor or reality haha. Interesting nonetheless

I saw a brilliant blue GT convertible this morning on Mulholland Highway in Calabasas heading west at about 9:30. I was in my Audi etron, so I pulled over to let it pass, but I couldn't see if it was a vanilla, C or S. As he passed I got good sound effects so it was a 2019 or 2018.

While I am somewhat biased, I think brilliant blue is the best color, as long as it includes a little flash. (I don't like blacked out emblems, grilles or wheels.)

Brilliant Blue is a favorite of mine as well. I personally think it looks great and it's not overdone like so many other colors. I started negotiations to buy what appeared to be a lightly used 2018 GT-R in this color that was at a dealership in KY, until I learned from my local dealer that it had been used as a "press car," and the sales mgr. showed me there was a damage report that didn't show up in the Carfax history. Great looking car, but it was clear that it had been "rode hard and put away wet," so I walked.

I looked at another a few months ago in FL, but it didn't have the same brake/wheel options that I thought really complimented the appearance on the KY car the front lip spoiler was chipped up so I didn't pursue it further. Not a fan of the Magna version though.

I do like brilliant blue as well (have a 2020 GLE in that color) but prefer the exterior night package on the GTC and think that combo is not ideal.
