Pops and Crackles - 2020 EU software

I have a 2018 AMG GTC which was recently upgraded to the latest software during a warranty service.
I have noticed that whilst the suspension settings (in all modes) and throttle response have improved considerably, the pops and crackles on the over-run have reduced significantly.
The amazing MAG woofle is still there, it sounds absolutely stunning but i do miss the pops and crackles (only in S+ mode at about 4000 rpm)

So the question for you
How do you get the pops and crackles (back) in your car?

Any changes since software upgrades?
Or your usual tips and tricks....

Thanks

I have a late build 2018, and pops and crackles should only show up in S+ and Race. I have an EVM and secondaries removed as well; still just those 2 settings will give off the sounds you are looking for - I dont think its the SW update, unless those settings have been quieted as well.

The backfire is a exhaust and valve thing. It's unburnt fuel combusting. I certainly hope that they can't simply "update" your software and get rid of this. Maybe a MB offical Tech can chime in...

I think both things can be true. The popping only applies in S+ and Race, BUT the latest software may have changed the EV position settings so the car is now generally quieter in those settings. It's a complaint shared by most with the newer cars that seems to fix with an EVM install.

My question is what happens to those of us that go through the EVM update with RennTech, Cete etc and end up getting that update....

I think it is an EU compliance requirement for noise - a bit surprised it is a retrofit thing though.
Its not bad the sound, just a bit subdued in S+ and Race

its a cheap and easy fix for the valves. Most post op are pleased with the results. I know that I am! And if its too loud, you have the exhaust button to quickly quiet it down.
