Need Input on Solarbeam Yellow
While I've been casually shopping for a "lightly used" Brilliant Blue GT R for almost a year, I probably would have gone ahead with the purchase if the Phoenix MB Dealer had been willing to discuss a trade-in for my F430 Spider. I did have the same question in the back of my mind though regarding how I would feel about SBY long term. Two months later, it's still sitting on their lot and the price has dropped twice by a total of $5k. Phoenix definitely has a sizable car culture, so I'm a little surprised it hasn't sold yet.
I'm not sure I agree that SBY translates to a premium over other comps though - I've been tracking a few Pro models (along with a few other GT Rs) and don't necessarily see SBY commanding the highest prices....
I just bought a SBY GTC roadster after having an auto-search looking for one for over a month. Picked it up in Nashville and one the way home to VA, I put my first miles on it at Tail of the Dragon. Love the color, love the car.
On the SBY, I cannot believe how many times I went round and round on it. After I started this thread I rejected the car the next day...two days later, back on the agenda...made an offer, then rescinded it. The very peculiar thing about SBY, it looks far better on a GTR than it does on a GT/GTS, especially if it has silver wheels, which this car did. I only went back to it after developing a plan to completely redo the exterior look. Funny thing, apparently I wasn't alone as this dealer has had the car for sale for 80 days and 3 price reductions.
So, finally, today, I bought this boring black/black/black GT. Look for me in the back row...haha...pick it up tomorrow
These cars are special and they do need to say “look at me “.
color is completely subjective. However, I have to disagree with one statement. The car that looks best in SBY is the GTS. The GTR looks great in GHM and SGM.
The GT was never offered in SBY as far as I know .GTS and above .

I get the whole thing about a special paint job that costs 10 grand. I can see the allure to this color when the car underpinning it is worthy. But common man (sorry Biden) the only thing missing on this car is the TAXI sign. I looked at this car with the thought - "What can I do to make it right"? I think I knew (know) but didn't want to risk it in the end. Apparently no one else has in three months.

On the other hand, black is a car color I've had on most of my cars in the past. Only exceptions was Tempest gray on my Bentley and Victory red on one Corvette. I ordered a 2021 C8 Corvette in black. Black works for me regardless what row I'm in, even the back row....hahaaa......

That car is listed for $75k with 25k miles. That’s why it hasn’t sold in 3 months.
Some builds are head scratchers.
This one was for a lease so that is why keep the options $ low or none.

They car has wrapped wheels - that seem to be curbed when the dealer sent me pics. The rear PRO logo is swapped out for the real one that is located inside between the seats - for some reason. The front AMG logo is green as well. The front splitter struts are wrapped in yellow too. They said its all stock till I gave them a long list of what is modified and I got an email from the GM explaining the cars history. It was some footballers car before. One user here test drove the car and said the front parking sensor kept going off. At that price point, I don't think anyone wants to buy something with unusual mods that make you question the cars history.
