Need Input on Solarbeam Yellow
I am actively on a purchase path for an AMG GT and have been spending hours combing the marketplace (active meaning like tomorrow morning). I have found a car, perfect in every way, and it is Yellow Solarbeam. The color has me stalled. I'd ask anyone for input they have on the color. I realize "color" is a personal choice. I guess before I fire this gun, I'd like to know if the color is.....whatever you all know from experience...is it popular? Is it a mistake? is it something most would pass on?...jump on?
I'm leaving the world of Bentley Continental GT, and have ordered a 2021 Corvette, but anyone following this nightmare knows if you've "ordered" a Corvette, you might see it someday before you expire. Then I was planning on a "plan B" and happened upon a MB AMG GT and fell hopelessly in love. So, now my plan B is quickly moving into first position.
Back to the color, I am a "garage queen" car guy. I don't race, I don't drive aggressively...heck, I did at 20/30, but now at 70..... So, back to the color. Should I pass and keep shopping for a white/black/gray? Or would you jump on it?
Thanks guys.
PS: Once I get settled I will become a pretty active member. In the Corvette world I am an HP Tuner, and in the Bentley world, I have as much diagnostics and my dealer....so, I'm a tech-nerd.
BTW, Owned MBs in the bast, but long long ago.
What I've experienced in other car worlds (most of which have specialized colors) is that those who desire them are 1 in 100. But, if you're selling and you can't find that one....or you do?
What about reselling? I am asking this BC I am about a 2-4 year car guy, then want to move to the next adventure which could be another AMG model....or, I'll be 75 and looking for that step van...hahaa.

The color is stunning in sunlight . Deep, warmth. I do have exterior Carbon fiber package .
It is different. In NY, no one ever looks twice .
White, black and gray are boring . You can be driving a S560 with that coloration.
SBY sets you that much further apart .

BTW, I am a "black out" fan. Right now this car doesn't look correct to me with Solarbeam, silver wheels and bright work body accents. That will be my first project if this car works out.

(PS: If you're 70 I've got half a decade on you.)
I would never get a GT in another color after solarbeam
In all seriousness, Solarbeam is my favorite modern MB color. From what I've seen, yellow ones hold their value a little bit more - but it could just from the higher initial purchase price.

In the UK, the Designo colours SBY, Hyacinth Red and Selenite Matt Grey are the longest to re-sell according to my dealer friends.
Some dealers may actually offer you a marginally lower price if the rest of the spec does not match the SBY exclusiveness because they know it will sit on their forecourt for longer.
This means a base model AMG GT with SBY and without the carbon trim and other options may not be the best buy.
Designo Diamond White, Black and Selenite Grey are most commonly bought and traded (so arguably you see more of them driving around!)
Tanzanite blue is also a stunning colour and at a kind of half-way point. Not quite the classic blue of Mercedes convertibles and coupes of the past but striking.
So it depends if you want a relatively rare colour. Or if you prefer to blend in.
Fact is all AMG GTs get a lot of attention. I am not convinced more for one color over the other.
Perhaps the brighter SBY and HYR gets noticed initially more for a GT (rather than the other colors that can blend in) as they're usually seen on exotics.
I love the SBY. But I bought the Designo Hyacinth Red because I could see myself enjoying it for years to come.
Gets the same smiles, thumbs up, camera phones flashing as anything else on the road that is a little bit special.
If you do get one, do get it wrapped in clear, self-healing PPF because it is not easy re-spraying SBY.
A colour match is almost impossible as any responsible dealer will tell you.
