2018 GTS 8K MILES - $112k

Yikes, I just realized the title of the thread is wrong, after clicking the BJ link, and it was actually a 2016, not a 2018... That's far worse than I initially thought...

The platform will allow for a number of significant design differences though and I hope the coupe will stay as balanced as it is today.
Since the SL will be tuned for comfort it may make sense to have a 9 speed slush box, for the next GT not so much. I love the balance with the front-mid engine/transaxle layout (and rear wheel steering), the SL will have the transmission directly bolted to the engine and likely sit on the front axle (given the hood length).
While the SL prototypes are already in the wild, there is nothing so far on the next GT's...

Our cars will be collectors if that's the the direction that they take. The world is crumbling...the next news from MB will be that they are pulling from the 2022 F1 line up.

Jus wow. So, it will be a hardtop SL branded as a GT, and no roadster to force that crowd to the SL.

The SL will be quick though. It will top out with the SL73e w. 800+hp and AWD but a very different driving experience.

The SL will be soft top and an AMG designed one, so nothing like the prior SL's. Consolidation of all convertibles given the small piece of the pie in a SUV world. S-Class cab, E-Class Cab, C-Class Cab, SLC, SL and AMG GT roadster will go away. The SL has the name plate although I heard there might be tiny chance of a GT roadster.

Consolidating the 2 makes economic sense for MB. That said, it is the death of the SLS, GT platform, which I think draws more from the gull wing as inspiration than the namesake SL does. Maybe the SL gets new life as the move it closer to its roots taking some of the design queues from the current GT and SLS (the current SL spy shots don't really suggest that though). If they move closer to the render below, they have my attention.
