New!! GTC-R roadster!!

I've been invited to look at a new model, described to me as a 2021 GTC-R model soon to be launched.
That may not be the actual designation, the dealer was very cagey about mentioning what the actual designation was.

All I know at the moment is that it is a GTC-Roadster with -R engine tuning, active mounts, 9-way suspension, rear diffuser, and other bits.
More when I get more details on Tuesday

Do share!

The GTC has everything mechanically in the drivetrain as the GTR sans the small lift in HP, unlike the GT and GTS models (they are different). It's really a GTR with a weight problem and no active aero. My spidey sense tells me it's just a GTC Roadster with adjustable coilovers like the GTR.

Sounds like it will be the 9 stage traction not suspenison! Considering they have diluted all the models with the amg tech it doesn’t surprise me.

just to add very much sounds like a 2020 gtr roadster your dealer is talking about possibly?

He was very clear that it was a new, soon-to-be-launched model and called it specifically the GTC-R roadster
I would tend to agree with the above - a hp bump, 9-speed traction and that rear diffuser. But i will report back!

.
Really dont see the purpose or room for another roadster placed between the GTC and the GTR. Maybe your dealer is confused LOL. Wouldn't be the first time a Benz dealer confused details...

Imposter!!! lol - good catch on the TC dial missing. That kit looks pretty legit at the 20' view!

Oh, i think I may have mis-directed you with the link
The link was for a strange AMG GTC *coupe* with R styling pack added on (whatever that is, it certainly isn't OEM). Avoid.

What I am being invited to see is a new variant, it is a GTC- roadster to be launched in MY21, and was described to me as a "GTC-R" to summarise it has the GTC ethos with some tasty bits off the GTR (I presume)

You may be right - as this is a MY21 variant to be launched, I presume this is a re-arrangement of the portfolio.
Just like the GT base got more kit in MY20, I think the GTR-Pro will be the new anchor at that end and the update MY21 GTC-roadster will pick up some tasty bits.

Tuesday PM will tell

Curious as well as to what this turns out to be. The addition of the 9-stage TC would be nice. Always thought it was odd, that the GT C didn't get it with the facelift, given that even the '19+ C63S got it and now that I've lived with it for about 1.5 years, it's one of the best new tech that AMG added to their cars. Not necessarily because of the ability to manually select one of 9 levels, but because of how smoothly it manages traction overall. I've always hated traction control, because of how abruptly most of them cut in and fight the driver. The 9-stage TC is the first one I've experienced that works with me and not against me. BTW, the yellow Lego knob is not necessary. In the C63S the levels are controlled via the drive mode selector on the steering wheel.

Slick, very slick.

When I found out that C63s had that I started considering one as well as an E63s that I'm looking for.

So the Tuesday AM meeting has been deferred for a few days.
I am told Mercedes-AMG have issued an embargo on all new AMG models/sales until the end of the calendar year at least to stay under the group's CO2 target.
But I will know in a week or so - did confirm however that it is not a GTR roadster, it is a new GTC spec with R bits that is going to anchor the MY2021 GTC product line.

I wonder what the price increase will be, and what that will do to the GTR pricing. It makes sense they would do something like this, I suppose, considering they nearly cannibalized the GTC with the additional options on the GT, imo.

ahh very interesting indeed! What country are you located in? I asked my sales guy here in Canada and he has heard nothing about a new updated gtc..so hats off to you and your source for being ahead of the curve 😉

will be looking forward to getting some more info on this when you have it!

I have the dealer order guide (DOG) for the 2021 model GTC. Prices are not in this guide yet as they are to be determined. Since there is nothing in there about a special GTC model, this must be something unique indeed that will have its own dealer order guide.

just relooking at the GTR - Roadster (not to be confused with this GTC with R bits). Its missing the lego dial and opted for the 9 stage traction control on the steering wheel dials too!
