Service and inspection to do list at 40k miles
I haven't driven the car much during the winter, only took it out for short maintenance runs once or twice a month. I suddenly get this notice that service A0 is overdue. The car is just under 20k miles. I had a radiator leak which I had to replace, at that time the dealership gave me a service and inspection list (image attached) to be done at 40k miles. If this was locally I wouldn't need to ask, the nearest Mercedes dealership for me is 325 miles away !!! Do I need to get it serviced immediately even though I only put couple of thousand miles in the past year and I probably wont put more than another couple this year. Any inputs would be appreciated.
It's hard to say w/o knowing the full health of the car. But typically I feel these service intervals are exaggerated and if there is no over-usage of the vehicle nothing will happen if you keep going well over the computer sign saying service due. My mom's GLK had service due for almost 200 days at one point and there were no issues. Also, it was a 2014 with 27K km's that we just sold in January so it was in immaculate health.

Please note that on your list most of the items state "inspect" which I suspect you can easily do yourself. I believe the major items on the list suggests oil changes for engine and transmission...something you or an indy shop MAY be be able to do. Personally I would not feel comfortable doing the transmission service myself but others have done it on their own. If I hired an indy shop I would want one that had performed that service before and knew what they were doing. Make a note of when you perform the services and reset the service light if it bothers you. Should you have a warranty claim MB could always say the car was not serviced properly unless you have proof/receipts of your service/oil change. My disclaimer: I always reserve the right to be wrong. Enjoy your car. Other more knowledgeable than me will chime in here as there are some brilliant people on this forum.

Oil should be changed every XXXXX Km or 1 year, which ever comes first. Even if you don't drive your car at all, you should change oil every year. Other fluids like transmission, brake fliud, etc... all have time related intervals along with milage.

A Full-Service History is practically mandatory at this end of the AMG stable should you wish to sell on and achieve the bets prices.
Many AMG dealers and specialist car shops will not usually take on a car with incomplete or infrequent service history
In warranty, not servicing your car on time will void the warranty.
If you purchase an extended warranty, this will certainly push up the premium you're quoted.
Likewise, there are several components and consumables that require change even if the car has not been used for long periods.
I would suggest you need to look at the condition of engine oil and brake fluids in particular. Likewise, and this is a matter for inspection, tyres have a life (mileage and time)
There are independent Mercedes service centres who can give you very competitive quotes.
