Is the AMG GT a "Super Car?"
#51
The PRO has major presence. I drove to the MB dealer in Henderson, NV. to look at a new 2020 Solarbeam GTC with a 180K MSRP,when I arrived they had a 2020 PRO in a paint to sample color (I dont remember the name) but it was like goldish hue but metallic. It totally ruined seeing the C as it just made it look so plain,lol.....I drove the C ,great car in every way but I was struck by the aero bits and as MCLAMBO states its presence. Another thing, and its probably just me, but I was not wowed by the Solarbeam Yellow in person like I thought I might be, either in the showroom, or out in the sun, I liked the color but did not love it 9900.00 worth.. I probably would have signed a contract with the devil to drive that PRO back to Utah but it wasn't in the stars or the bank account, lol
I decided I had to have an R and found a low mile, white example that will be arriving this Sunday!!! Cant wait to get some miles on the Little- Bro-PRO...Please post some pics of that PRO MCLAMBO!

photo of my PRO. Solar Beam is definitely for everyone but I love mine! And the fact MB discontinued the color makes it even better.

I always thought anything over 500hp was a super car, anything over 1000hp was a hypercar.....and anything from Italy was an exotic

There are plenty of sport sedans with over 500 hp like the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio or even the c63...they are not supercars. Mclarens are from the UK, Bugattis are from france, Koenigsegg are from Sweden...you dont think those cars are exotic? lol.

Has Anyone Mentioned the Chick Magnet Factor?
Price, incredible performance, styling, exclusivity, etc., are all factors of a super car, but when a car is an instant chick magnet, then that's super enough in my book!

It is more of a dude magnet lol. More women have come up and talked with me in my little red CLA than the GTR. The GTR has them to stand afar and pout 😂

And the "dude magnet" comments above are entirely accurate.

Ha...Always get a chuckle out of this rather common line on most car forums. Truth is YOU are either a chick magnet...or not. And when it comes to getting chicks, when you're the magnet, then it doesn't make any difference what you're driving or even if you are walking....and when you're NOT the magnet, then it doesn't matter what you're driving.
And the "dude magnet" comments above are entirely accurate.

It comes down to performance, right?....not paint color or carbon fiber wings and fins and stickers. Super-car...aka super performance car. If you have a car that puts down exceptional, super performace, you have a Supercar.
You can have a Subi WRX or Mitsubishi Evo that can kill a lot of cars on a quartermile....I'd call that specific car a super car for what that person built it to perform.
But generally speaking, its the expensive, high cost materials and engineering and design that makes cars into super cars. These cars are expensive, aero shaped, cars of standout color and design.

Speaking of chick magnets, back in 1996 I loaned my new SL500 to an attractive British actress I had just met and taken out on a date and she had an accident in it. It was a minor accident that needn't have been reported, but she did and it led to my insurance being canceled. That was right after I married her 9 months later and she came onto my policy.
Neither I nor my car was the magnet. My horses were.
