2018 Gt-R Vs. 2020 - worth the extra dough?

Hi guys -

Time for a new toy and I am in lust with the GT-R. Was looking for a Black or Silver but I am now starting to really consider the Green Hell Magno.

For those in the know here, is the additional $30k+ worth the facia updates and the new gauges? is there anything else I need to be considering in my purchase?
The car will be my 5th AMG (current 2015 S63 as daily) and will be used for weekend and annual track sessions. I plan on keeping this for a while so I am not overly concerned with the depreciation.

That said, I can pick up a highly optioned >15k miles 2018 for ~150k and the comparable 2020 is sitting north of $180k and I don't know what I don't know.

TIA for the advice.

I have had a 2018 GT coupe and now have a 2020 GT roadster. The analog controls on the 2018 (except for the Apple iPhone interface) are, in my opinion, superior to and much easier to use than the all digital controls on the 2020. The analog vs. digital/virtual gauges are a matter of taste.

I agree with Scott, I much prefer the older layout, multimedia controls, and gauge cluster.

Had a 2018 GTC roadster and now a 2020 GTR. Visually the only 2020 exterior difference is the headlight design - which I like over the 2018. The tail lights are slightly tinted as well.
Internally as @MalibuScott and @Orcbolg said the difference is with the center console (classy analog "V8-style" 2018 vs oled screen buttons that don't look as good and prob wont age as well in the 2020), trackpad (actual knob and trackpad in the 2018 vs the dumb "modern" trackpad in the 2020), gauges (digital 2020 which I love slightly more than the analog 2018), Front cam 2020, CarPlay + larger center display.

Ooo, forgot about the larger screen, but I do think there is an aftermarket upgrade for that, if I'm not mistaken. The front cam is nice as well.

There's also a difference in the Volume of Exhaust Note I believe, secondary to extra Particulate Filters that were also added for the U.S. market.

Can anyone confirm which model year they added these extra filters that makes the GT R quieter?
IIRC they were added for the 2020 MY, correct?

I test drove a 2018 and 2019 back to back, and could swear the 2019 was a tad bit louder, but too close to call.

Have heard reports that the 2020 MY is quieter, which would be in line with the extra particulate filters.

As for the exhaust note, while I only have a GT, the note was quite loud with a lot of crackling on the 2018. On the 2020 it's completely muffled, even when you open up the exhaust on the controls.

AMG GT R
I originally had my eye on a 2018 GT R, but after test driving a facelifted version, I changed my mind and went for a 2019 GT R.
I had the similar concerns and thoughts... but in the end I'm happier with the digital dash.
It also helps the car I did end up buying was already modified (high-flowed turbos, OPF "bypassed", re-tuned)

Yes, it did cost me ~25K more... but the modifications alone would have cost around that much anyway. So win-win for me.
