Out of warranty. Sell the car in this sellers market?
Hi. I have a mint 2017 GTS with 35,000 on it. It's perfect and has a perfect service history with literally no problems with the car in it's life, but that doesn't mean that I'm not concerned about a massive failure of some type that could cost 10-20k (or more). I can sell the car for big money right now, but I'd actually rather keep it if it still had warranty. From the hours of research I've done, there just aren't any warranty companies (service contracts) that I would trust to not fight me on a claim. The reviews are so mixed on here and online with the few that are recommended. How reliable are these cars when they get to the 30-plus thousand mileage point? I'm not seeing any high-mileage ones to use as a gauge. Do I just hold on to her and hope for the best, or unload her now for the +/- 90k that I can sell her for right now? I SOOOOO wish there was an extended service contract/warranty company that actually was trustworthy and no bull****, as I'd go that direction and keep the car in a heartbeat. Please let me know if I've maybe missed one who is. Thanks.

Does the car still have any manufacturer warranty left?

I would say sell, if you can get $90k for a 2017 GTS with 35K miles do it. I was on the whole sell my GTS E1 with 9k miles and wasnt getting anything close to that offers, kept it on for a month (wasnt driving it) drove it and fell back in love and said nope, not selling. But $90k for a 35k mile GTS if you can do it I say yes, all day long.
As far as reliability I cant vouch as i am way below that mileage, but if my SA and AMG tech are to be trusted (and they are by me anyways) these they are bulletproof as far as the ability to handle migher mileages. Looks like you have always kept up on the servicing the car when it was needed/required so that is a BIG plus in anyone's book. But..... if you are scratching to get something newer or a GTR then yes pull the trigger and sell while the selling is hot. It wont be lile this forever.
As far as extended warranty, Fidelity i have heard was good/decent, ask your Benz Dealer who they would recommend.

That's a pretty amazing price, indeed. I'm just going off of what I am seeing on CG and Cars. Remember that I'm private party, so the buyer doesn't pay sales tax, which is a 8-10k savings (with dealer fees) over a dealer sale. A 90k GTS listed by a dealer ends up being an almost 100k sale. As I bought mine far below 90k, I win even if I get below 90k.

Good to know, tnx. For 148k, I'd like to think that they can go for quite a while without a major failure.

I would NEVER trade a car in, nor buy new from a dealer lol.
Were you planning on selling private or trading in? The market is not what it was even a month ago, prices are coming down and dealer demand for used cars is as well. Maybe trade in for a newer or different trim, C or R. If you want to see an example contract and quote for your GTS on a complete manufacturers extension policy through Freedom Warranty, you can text or call me at (602) 909-9216 or email me at tgibson@highline-autos.com

I am not sure can get $90K right now, the market seems to be retreating. Here is a 2018 that just sold today on BAT for comparison 2018 GTS

I bought a 2017 GTS recently. I did see prices ranging from the low $70k's to high $90k's. Even sometimes with not that consistent mileage relationships. But generally I'd say with 35k miles and fairly typical options you are more likely to get $80k than $90k. I paid $74k for mine with 41k miles from a dealer (they had taken it as trade in on a new Vette). Still waiting on shipping so I can officially join the GT club.

I've had my 2016 GTS up for sale on CG and I have had zero interest in the past 30-40 days. It's on there for $86,500 with 26,500 miles on it and it's in excellent condition.
I've only received offers from dealerships around the area (Miami, FL) and the best one was for $80k.
I am thinking maybe folks don't like the bodywork I did to it (carbon diffuser and wing).... not sure.

Jorge, there were a few other similar to yours GTS options in South Florida when I was looking. So that might be the issue also. The one that sold I believe from a Palm Beach BMW dealer was my second choice and that seller was fairly aggressively working to get a deal done.

that's a solid price, but keep in mind that with my car there is no sales tax and dealer fees which (depending on state and town) would have been 6-9k.

I've seen it. I think you are right, that's why I don't do mods of any type to my cars, as you severely reduce who will be interested in your car when it's time to sell.

they are going for a lot more than 80k around here with similar mileage, options and condition (scottsdale). plus, mine has no sales tax and dealer fees which equate to between 6-9k. my car at 90k is the same as buying the same car from a dealer in the low-80's and you don't have to deal with a slimy dealer.

I like to do mods to my cars, but I go through serious pains to ensure I can completely reverse all mods I do. Whenever I sell a used car my ad always says "Completely stock". Even dealers are not wanting to take a modded car in, in most cases.
In your case, I would reverse the vinyl striping. The tail wing should probably go too if you want top dollar, and that is, if it is reversible.
