Just got recall letter

Newbie
I emailed MB NZ and they replied the other days saying
Your GT is not affected by the drive shaft recall.
As your GT is NZ new, you will be advised of any future recalls.
Seems strange as they are all made in the same place. I would have thought all would be affected by this. I will raise it with the dealer next time i'm in.

FYI
Just got back from the dealer. It seems that Mercedes has blocked any work on the recalled drive shaft. They couldn’t even open ticket for an inspection and he attributed it to no parts and claimed it would reopen in May.

That's the right question. Replacing the driveshaft shouldn't require a software change. I'm guessing they are altering the torque curve to reduce early extremes. I'll bet 0-60 times increase.

Got the call yesterday, recall approved and driveshaft replaced. Was relieved as I believe that the new shaft design is a lot stronger in the long run and I plan on keeping the car.
After 2 weeks, I thought I would take a look around the car for damage. Front lip was split and strip underneath was torn out in places with rivets all over the place.
Dealer agreed to repair and I’m Back in rental….
