How will the SL55/SL63 release impact the C190 market?
Release set for next month - SL63 clocking in at 577HP 3.1 second 0-60 / SL55 469HP 3.4 second 0-60. That's quick.
I've been eyeing a GT-C for some time now.. but it really feels like we're at the tip of the market. Prices have continued going up, but it seems like things have slowed down. I'm seeing price drops on a weekly basis from autotrader/cargurus, etc. Certainly the release of the new SL series will also have some sort of effect on GT prices. I'm curious to hear thoughts.

Personally, I think they look great but find the GTC and GTR more visually appealing. Looks, color, etc. are all subjective. Of course the GT crew is going to like the look of the GT better [or at least say they do].
I'm not as concerned with who likes what best, rather the impact a new [competitive] line will have on the GT. There is a significant difference between a C63/E63/GT in terms of performance and feel. You're right - I don't foresee the SL being as much of a "driver focused car" as the GT, but that's almost the point. It will certainly pull folks away from the GT, now that there is another strong contender in the fold.
FWIW @UCIMBZ , totally agree with you on the yellow!
You can't compare an SL43 to a C190 GT. Totally off-base there, my friend. Apples and oranges.

The new SL looks good, has great performance and interior eye candy. The drive dynamics will be inferior to the GT models but that matters only to a smaller AMG audience. I believe this car will also capture a part of the 911 cab market.

My point exactly, those are seen as premium drive by / drive on the weekend on a twisty road, not as the drivers take it to your fave track then drive back home.
Time will tell I guess

That's the GT 4 Door. Have yet to see one of those on the tracks I've been to recently (Spa, Nordschleife, Dijon, Monza). Seen plenty of GTs, GTRs and even black series.... along with the myriads of GT3 RSs 😂

But the new AMG GT 2 door will also come with 4 cylinder engines as will the GT 4door (later update). I don't like it but that's the path
You will never see a SL on the track to be sure
